It appears suggestions go in here now, so here this is. I was wondering if we could try having a profiles forum, where every member of CurvedSpace can create their own topic for their profile. In the first post they can put whatever they want about themselves, like a bio of some sort. Or they could provide pictures of themselves. Or create a portfolio of some kind. Or random quotes. Yeah, you know.

Besides the ability to create profiles, members could directly talk with other members in the open by replying to their profiles, kind of like a community site like Myspace/Facebook, except this is just for CurvedSpacians. I think it would be nice to have since our attempts at establishing an active chat community has failed repeatedly, and this could provide a nice alternative since we are all spread out across the world, making the time zones a bit... off for instant chatting.

I think this is a really good idea. In our current profile system, you can make comments on people's profiles, but you don't see them unless you look, and no one else sees them unless they deliberately check for them.

If we did make a profile forum, it would be easy to find active member's profiles, because only active members would actually take the time to make one. Our full member list, on the other hand, is really impressively large.

And, should we decide to make this happen, we could even get the ball rolling with a Profile Thread Contest! See who can make the coolest profile in a week or something. It might just give this idea the kick out the door it would need.
