Now there has been some talk about 2012 which many claim to be the end of the world. I'm mystified about that, but do you think it is possible? I personally hope it won't happen, but for right now there isn't much info to this

I doubt it would happen, but it is a date singled out in loads of cultures. So there must be something different about it.

I want to reach my 22nd birthday before I die thank you bluetongue.gif

Dates are 100% arbitrary. Our choice of numbers to represent one earth rotation during one earth revolution has ZERO impact on seismology, meteorology, and asteroidimpactology! Just because some ancient and VERY IGNORANT culture says the world is coming to an end doesn't make it the least bit credible. Learn science... we have a whole list of incredible earth destroying events that actually can happen. My favorite one is the oscillating microscopic black hole that falls from one side of the planet to the other and eats every atom in its path until everything is consumed. It's awesome!

People have been predicting the end of the world for thousands of years. They've had a 0% success rate. bluetongue.gif

I know, I've tried D:

Anyway, I don't really give a damn about this whole Mayan Calendar End Of The World 2012 thing. Cos I really doubt it'll happen.

Isn't it supposed to be on a particular day in december?

If it is, I shall throw a party.

I thought it was Dec 12, 2012. 12/12/12.

Weird. And no. I don't believe it. Neraphym is too good to disagree with.
Overwhelmed as one would be, placed in my position.

It's December 21st, 2012.

And no. There's a common misconception that it means the end of the world, which is incorrect. The calendar simply is moving onto another one of their "cycles," in which they had absolutely no prediction for what would happen, so naturally when people don't know they make things up.

I think people say the world is going to end with every triple number date. Like when it was 6/6/06, people thought the anti-christ was going to be born and everything bluetongue.gif
