I've been very busy and haven't really been able to post much lately, but I'm still working on stuff for CurvedSpace. Update 5 is one of the things I'm doing.

The update will bring more abilities for existing classes, and I've finally gotten to the trade classes as well. I also plan to add a few more vehicles, as technology is beginning to spread around due to the conflicts. Since all of the vital stuff has been done, I also have time for content in the Codex. Update 5 will move the story forward, and I plan to add other content for members to look through. There will be at least one puzzle to yield hidden information.

I thought that now would be a good time to discuss fairness when it comes to trade classes, and also discuss how secret knowledge comes into play.

The purpose of trade classes is really for roleplaying, and to provide a little direction for making items that fit into the story. You can already equip your character with anything that supports his or her story, but how does your character get that equipment? Perhaps a back story explains it. They can also be event rewards that branch out your character's story. With trade classes, they could also be made by a character.

What makes that crafted stuff interesting? If your character makes it all for himself or herself, or if it came from someone else? DS is all about weaving stories together, so hopefully some of us will want to trade. It would be good to post requests in realistic places, such as markets. It may also be good to start your own shop to attract the attention of others. You could also give it out during events.

Just realize that if you make an unlimited number of something, it won't have much significance. If you make something unique, on the other hand, that would be a different matter. This means that you can turn people down, or make a big deal about your stuff and start events revolving around it. Just realize that if someone turns down your request, it's the character doing it, not the player! bluetongue.gif

As for the secret information, it may or may not be immediately useful. Like I said earlier a few times, some hidden information may already be available by piecing things together. I won't say what is available, though some will be obvious in the form of puzzles or codes. All this could lead to big things, such as the inclusion of your character in the epic, or at the very least a nice reward or a Commendation. You just have to find out how to take advantage of what you find!

If there's an obvious puzzle, it will definitely lead to something. I can't say how important it will be, but it will yield some hidden information. The biggest secrets may not be so obvious though, and may involve different pieces of unrelated information. These different levels of puzzles are meant to be challenges, and I won't provide hints about them. For the biggest secrets, I may not even say if something is in fact a puzzle. If you're on the right track, you'll probably know it. Just know that I won't purposely mislead you.

Lastly, don't tell people what you find unless you want competition! It may be wise to keep information to yourself until it becomes useful. thumb.gif
