First of all, we switched networks. We're now on irc.codealife.com (port 6667). Thanks Kimo!

We also just have one default channel now (#cspace). Feel free to register your own if you wish.

Lastly, I brought back the "Advanced" chat applet. If you don't want to use an IRC program, then you should try the advanced chat. It's better than the "basic" chat, but it may not work for everyone. Only if it doesn't work should you use the basic chat, which should work for everyone who can run Java.
