Upon one of the levitated platforms of Aenoria, in a busy area not far from the market, a man stands upon a slightly elevated platform. A number of people have stopped before him to listen to his words -- perhaps fifty or so -- and his voice carries easily to reach each of them. He wears a long purple robe with the hood down, and is holding a book out before him from which he reads. His skin is strangely white and pasty, and he seems rather old, though he does not have many wrinkles, he is completely bald, and his voice is strong. He does not look old, but one would get that feeling when looking at him.

Something seems strange about his eyes, as well, but what it is is elusive. In his other hand, the one that is not holding the book, he holds a staff upright, his hand near the top and its end on the ground. At the top of the staff is a bluish stone. Due to the carrying nature of his voice, any who are passing by hear at least some of his words...

"And it came to pass that a great famine came upon the land of Fal Adarsis. And it came to pass that Merais went to the Prophet Altarosh and asked that he might go to the forest for food. The Prophet drew a line on the ground, and told Merais, 'The Great Dantalion giveth liberally to he who doth wait and have faith. But step across and do as you wish.' Merais did not believe, and he stepped across the line and went into the forest, where he feasted of the wild berries. The fruit was bitter, and it did not satisfy him, and he longed to return to Fal Adarsis. He left the forest, only to find that the line had widened into a great chasm. He called out to Altarosh in fear. Altarosh responded, 'The line has not changed, Merais; it is you who have changed. If you have faith, step across the line.' So Merais prayed for forgiveness and took the first step, and the hands of Dantalion enveloped all those who welcomed him back."

OOC: Neat story.

BIC:

Neraphym, having recently returned to Aenoria, walks by as the man tells this strange tale. Intrigued, Neraphym asks who this Dantalion fellow is.

OOC: ;D

One of the members of the crowd, who holds in his hand a similar book to the one the speaking man has, turns to Neraphym to answer his question. The man on the elevated platform continues reading.

"The Great Dantalion is our One True God. The one true god of the entire multiverse. Every realm that exists, both those that we know of and those that we don't, he created them. And he has come to bring the truth to us now, to save us." It seems that this particular man is quite convinced that Dantalion is all of the things he said. Many of the crowd, however, do not seem to share such a belief. The man turns back to the speaker, intent on hearing more.

"...and it came to pass that the men of Xer Vedaeris assembled, and took up arms, and marched on the holy grounds of the Great Dantalion, for they did not believe. And it came to pass that they killed those who followed Dantalion. And it came to pass that the hands of Dantalion enveloped them, and smote them with a curse. And they were afflicted with a plague. And fire struck their cities from the heavens, and those who survived cried to Dantalion for forgiveness for their unbelief."

Neraphym: "Your 'One True God', eh? As opposed to someone else's one true god?"

Neraphym listens some more.

Neraphym: "I see your stick, now where is your carrot?"

The man turns back to Neraphym, clearly exasperated by what he probably considered to be Neraphym's ignorance. "I did not mean 'our' as in 'his followers'. He is the One True God of everyone, everything. Every creation since the dawn of time."

OOC: Sorry it took so long XD Had a lot of stuff to do bluetongue.gif And I still have a lot of stuff to do, which is why it's short XD

Neraphym: "And what powers does your god give to those who would follow? Surely the powers of this creator god of yours must be great if what you say is true. Though the Unseen one is as his name suggests, he still grants his followers mystical powers. This serves as proof of his existence. Yet here you are claiming to represent another god, only you demonstrate no powers. Instead you offer us only tall tales -- ones easy to fabricate."

Neraphym waits for a response. As an Arcanist, his knowledge of the cosmos is great. This world is very well designed, and Neraphym believes strongly that there is some intelligent force behind this (OOC: Cspace!). However, Neraphym is very skeptical of those who would claim to know more than they could, especially if there is power to be gained from it.

The man almost scoffs. "He bestows great powers upon the Taliaers, his missionaries. His most devout followers. Like this one, who reads to us from the Book of Dantalion now." With that, he turns back to the speaker. He does not seem like he would be very interested in answering any more of your questions now.

At near to the same time as the man turns away, the 'Taliaer', as the man called him, closes the Book of Dantalion. "Follow Dantalion. Only through him can you be saved. Only through your belief will he save you. I will return in three days time for your answer." He steps down the steps and begins moving away from the dais, through the crowd, touching some people on the head with a smile. Those he touches smile back as well. Despite his seemingly old appearance, he moves strongly. He moves through the crowd and away. The crowd begins to disperse.

Neraphym: "Halt, Taliaer. It is said that you posses great power as a result of following this god of yours. I am familiar with many leaders, most known only to a select few. However, in all my learnings never have I once heard of this Dantalion. I wish to learn more."

The Taliaer turns to Neraphym as he begins to speak, and listens as he speaks. "As the Prophet Daeraldis told Tirenin, 'Seek ye the truth, and it shall be brought unto you.' The Great Dantalion is everywhere. He is Creation. Speak, and he will listen. Your One True God hears you." He then turns and begins moving away again.

Neraphym thinks for a minute. He has heard these words of wisdom somewhere before, but cannot remember. He notices that it is getting late, and he will need to move now if he is to make it to his destination before sundown.
