Happy birthday!

O HAI! Thanks for the birthday wishes, peoples. I'm running through the whole birthday weekend, so this is gonna be long.
My birthday weekend turned out better than I expected. Friday arvo, I got the limited edition Pokemon DS Lite that I'd bought myself as an early birthday present. Also, my mum got us Carols by Candlelight tickets, continuing our new tradition (this is the...I think this'll make the fourth time) of going to that together. That night, I had dinner with my mum and brother at an awesome vegan-friendly restaurant, and since my brother was going away for the weekend, I got my bday present from him then. Spore. It's great fun. Went home, played it 'til going to bed at something around 3am.
Saturday. Got up, got a temporary birthday present from my mum ($50 and a scented soybean candle) since my real one hasn't arrived from the USA yet. Hopped on a train, went into the city. Played Pokemon Pearl on the way in. Met 6 friends (three of whom I'd never actually seen before). Since no one could decide what we should do, I said that I was going to walk down a particular street where I know a piercing shop is, and unless someone suggested something to do that would turn us around in time, I would get myself the piercing I'd been thinking about getting.
Of course, no one suggested anything in time. We went past the piercing shop and got some food, since it's always a good idea to eat soon before getting a new piercing. Had some troubles in the McDonalds where we got said food (smooth moves there, Goaty), but eventually were on our way.
With two of my friends watching from the doorway, I got myself a shiny new rook piercing. It's in my right ear. I thought that since I only had a single helix in my right ear (like the pic on the right at the top) and an inner conch in my left ear (pic on the left is the closest representation, though mine actually sits in the 'dip' furthest from the tragus and next to the anti-tragus (pic)), it would help 'balance' out my right ear a bit more. The funny thing is, you can't actually see the rook when you see me face-to-face. You can only see it from the side. That said, it looks cute and definitely helps with the balancing - or so I think. By the way, the rook takes my total number of piercings to 8: regular earlobes (albeit 14ga), helix, inner conch, snakebites (lip), central tongue, and now the rook.
Moving on. We eventually decided to hang out at Crown Casino. Ended up playing a game of laser tag. Because there were so many people in the game, my lot were all on the one team (except for one friend whose asthma unfortunately prevented her from participating). There was 4 people in the red team, my 6 on the blue team, and 9 on the red team. It was so much fun. There was one particular time when one of the people on the yellow team had died, and decided that it was a good idea to aim his gun at me (still alive) to kill me as soon as he came back. I was faster. I proceeded to laugh and tell him to not do that again. There was another fun time where I messed with a camper. He was hiding behind a particular section of wall, and would only poke his laser out to kill people. So, after sneaking up to the other side of the wall and waiting, his laser poked out less than two feet in front of me. Easy shot on a camper? Yes please.
Anyway, eventually the game ended. I can't remember exactly what the red team's score was, but their players came in 4th, 5th, 7th and 9th. I think their score was something under 10,000. Shows you how much they sucked despite their placing. Blue team's score was 29,300. Yellow team's...29,800. THEY BEAT US BY 500 POINTS! But they had three more people, so cut us some slack. Oh yeah, and the podium finishers. First up was none other than Mr Goaty himself. Second was another friend on our team who I think was expected to do well anyway. Third up...me! Booyah.
After that, we got some food. After a while, we slowly started to wander back to the train station. I got some fudge along the way. It was good fudge. Anyway, we got to the station and three friends decided to head home. The rest of us, hoping we were going the right way to run into Minotaur, started walking. And we did run into it, so that was cool. We spent quite a while in there, then wandered over to the EB across the street. After spending a while in there, we all headed our separate ways.
I played Pearl again on the train on the way home, and got picked up by my mum at the station. Got home and hopped on the internet, floating around various forums. Got a phone call from two other friends who were staying the night to say they'd gotten lost. After figuring out where they were, I directed them partway to my place. Drove out to the place we agreed to meet. Rang back my brother who'd rung me while I was driving. He already has a rook piercing, so we had a short chat about that. Y'know, comparing experiences and whatnot. I also got an SMS from my father, wishing me a happy birthday. I don't know what part of "I never want to see you again" he doesn't understand. Oh well, whatev. Apparently he'd tried to ring me and couldn't get through (THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR GETTING LOST), so he kept ringing my brother instead. Got nine calls in before my bro gave in and picked up. Due to their chat, I got the SMS instead of a phone call. YAY!
After hanging up and playing a bit more Pearl, my two friends arrived. After a quick rolling down the window and laughing at them, we headed off. They met Kira and Oscar, and after a while we went out into the backyard. We spent the rest of the night around the backyard campfire, talking and singing. Those hours in the backyard, laughing and singing, were definitely the highlight of the weekend. Eventually, at something past 2am, I laughed and jokingly suggested that we make a sparkler bomb (since we had some sparklers). Neither of them knew what I was talking about, so I demonstrated using two sparklers. One for the bomb, one for the fuse. They agreed on the awesomeness, so we put together all the remaining sparklers to make one big, exciting bomb. I didn't want to use a bottle, because if it shattered (it's happened before) it would not be good. So instead, I dug a small hole in the tiiiiiiny sandpit and dumped the sparkler stuff in that instead. Left one sparkler for the fuse.
Well. It didn't turn out as well as the bottle sparklers, which I expected, but it still looked cool. More like a miniature fire bomb than a sparkler bomb, but it was still fun. And by the time we set that off, it was 3am. After hot chocolate and sitting around the fire 'til it died, we finally wandered inside at not quite 4am. We let the cats out, and since one fell asleep, we decided to all get some sleep. After all finally being awake at once at 11:15am, we eventually decided to watch I Heard A Voice. When we weren't singing along (which turned out to be most of the time), we held a running commentary, pointing out and laughing at various things.
After that, we broke out my laptop and watched videos on YouTube. We tried and failed to find a particular video, but whatev. Oh yeah, and we ended up having pancakes for breakfast, courtesy of my mum. After getting bored of watching videos, we played Uno and Go Fish. After that, they had to head home. I ended up spending the rest of the night playing Spore, and finally flopped into bed just after 12:30 this morning. Played Pearl 'til 2am, then settled down and went to sleep.
All in all, the weekend turned out way better than I expected and was incredibly fun. Though I was upset and thought it would turn out horribly as late as Friday morning, in the end I really could not have asked for a more fun and enjoyable weekend.
