Yeah, so I have a Yamaha Acoustic, been playing for a year, and am getting pretty good. I figured I would make a few goals for myself, to try and pick up the pace a lil' bit. So, in the next three months, I want to have these songs mastered:

Snow (Hey Oh) - Red Hot Chili Peppers

I Couldn't Get High - Slightly Stoopid (don't judge unless you've heard, the guitar is pretty sick)

Badfish - Sublime (need to learn how to upstroke >__>)

F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X. - The Fall of Troy (tis' amazing)

For the RHCP and The Fall of Troy songs (which are electric), I will learn for now on the acoustic, seeing as how Christmas is coming and an electric looks pretty realistic right about now. Anyways, that is my goal, and I'll post every so often and tell how far I am. Exciting, right?

Ive been playing guitar (electric/acoustic) for about 4 years now. Assuming you've mastered all the basic chords I would start to practice power/barre chords, if I were you.

It will make your playing more interesting and you will be able to play a wider array of songs. Also, have you learned to read tabs yet?

Anyways, Im trying to learn the solos for the songs Lay Down by Priestess (its not that hard, im just strapped for time) and The Sound of Truth by As I Lay Dying. I already know all of the rest of those songs, but i got bored and moved on before i learned the solo.

It's irrelevant to my goal, but I can now play "One Thing" by "Finger Eleven" and it sounds pretty damn good, and I'm pretty sure it will get me tons of .... so yeah.

Dude, hammer-on the same string twice, just in a different fret. Play it, hammer on 6, play it hammer on 4.

Got the chorus of I Couldn't Get High memorized, but playing it out is kinda iffy. Really slow. The barre chord switch is killing me.

I memorized the solo to Lay Down by Priestess, and just learned Your Sword Versus My Dagger by Silverstein (the whole thing).

Rather Irrelevant Update:

I can play "Earth to Bella" pt1 and pt2 by Incubus now, and when I tie them together with the fingerpicking it sounds pretty smoove.
