Even though I've been in the background for a bit, for various reasons, I've been thinking things through about CurvedSpace. Activity has been dropping, but we can reverse that... And it really won't be that hard if members support it.

There are just two things that I ask of everyone:

- Post. bluetongue.gif

- Tell your friends about CurvedSpace.
thumb.gif

That's seriously all we need. I can handle the rest (though of course I greatly appreciate any help yes.gif ). We have activity, but too much of it is spent lurking. Every day, like 95% of the members who log in don't post. If we can get more discussions going, contact old members (simply on messengers), and find new members, it's easy to see what could happen! Suave_anim.gif

Why should it be difficult?

***********************************

But what about the specific areas of CurvedSpace, such as DS, SeeD, and DoA? Posting can revive them as well, if we also [re]invite members who are interested in them. Here are some ideas...

For SeeD/DoA:
  • Discuss updates.
  • Post about your accomplishments.
  • Start shops.
  • Organize crafting, questing, and PvP.
  • Discuss events and potential events.

For DS:
  • Start an event (quest/interaction).
  • Contribute to the Public Codex.
  • Participate in someone else's event.
  • Create a new character/storyline.

***********************************

Above all, we're going to need to seek to expand. First, we should probably try to contact absent members. There are many who may decide to return if they see that we're going somewhere again. The depths of a messenger buddy list is a great place to begin. Also, many receive email notifications of PM's, so you can try sending a PM to an old friend to remind him or her of us. If you play a game such as RS or GW, you can also check your friend list there.

It is also awesome when anyone invites a friend to join. It could be someone you know in reality, or someone you know in a game. The more we invite friends, the less we have to invite random people. It should be obvious which is the best alternative to keep the community worthwhile.

Regardless, we're going to need to grow. Let's try these methods before going to higher-impact methods such as posting on other communities.

***********************************

I really need your help with this. I can update CurvedSpace and promote our community, but that's all pointless if our active members don't use the site. We have blogs, galleries, games, and of course forums. This can be a launching platform for member-created guilds... A place to show off one's creativity... A place to have worthwhile discussions... And for some, a place to go crazy. bluetongue.gif

Don't worry about how great things used to be on CurvedSpace. Let's make it great today. thumb.gif

Heyy, sorry about my inactivity again, university owns me. 2eyes.gif I may or may not get time to be somewhat active, I think this quarter my schedule is even easier so we'll see.

I don't know if this is off-topic? But I used to play Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. I used to own a server and website. I have MANY MANY people I know on there. It's a very good source for gamers and good people ( some bad ). Once I can get my computer and laptop up and running I could download Wolfenstein and help promote CurvedSpace. I don't know if you want to get into that, but it's a definite oppurtunity.

There is also Gamespy Arcade. Many many games on there, if not every single game. Used to be on there a lot. I just need to get everything back up and running, as I just moved. So yeah, let me know in a PM or something. I know this isn't just about getting people to join just to join. But I had a LOT of good friends.

The Wolfenstein thing is pretty big. We could try to raise money for a server. Hundreds of new people a day could come through and play, depending on how well we run our server. Which I'm confident we could run well. And with that we could get donations from people who come and play. Which we could use for the server, to make it better, and along pay for extra CspaceZone activities.

The problem is that you have sort of shutdown these guilds, such as seeD. Because Cspace is a multi-gaming community, we only have like 5-7 members interested in a particular game, and 5 members isn't going to run a clan, let alone keep it active.

Most sites are dedicated to ONE game, so they have like 50+ people all thinking and posting on that one game. Cspace, in my opinion, is way to "broad" of a board to be kept super active by the amount of members it retains. We need to either do some serious game trim-downs and recruit, or....I dont know what will happen.

But, that's just my opinion and my view on this.

... Right now, the only games on Curvedspace that have any kind of any specific focus are Runescape and Guild Wars. Since there are no such thing as "guilds" or "factions" any more, we don't have to worry about five members trying to run a "clan" (though in making a guild or faction, no one aspired to run a clan anyway, so it's not a very fair comparison). Curvedspace is really just a bunch of gamers who talk about gaming and other random stuff. And saying that most sites are dedicated to one game isn't very accurate. Most -clan- sites are dedicated to one game. But Curvedspace isn't a clan site. Or a clan. We have no clans. It's a community.

I am going to make one suggestion: Burning Kingdoms. It's a game ran by CodeAlife, one of Cspacezone's partners, its in age three right now - age four should be coming soon. If anyone is interested try age three, think of it as a trying time. bluetongue.gif

If you mean Burning Kingdoms, I'm not exactly sure on numbers.

A lot of members bash RS.

Not to mention, a lot of members aren't active in RS...it seems to have faded away...

Look at the average runescape player... "I play runescape. Why should I log onto this forum? What is there for me?"

I wouldn't add to many new games until you take control of the ones you are in.

I actually agree with Kowboy on this, how can we expect RS players to join when there isn't an active community?

The solution? Either 1) Everyone stop playing RuneScape this very second or 2) The members who are active involve themselves in bringing more fun and activity into the game.

Thats the problem. The only game that almost everyone plays is RS, but nobody likes it enough to actually join a guild/clan.

And what does the guild/clan offer?

What does SeeD offer?

What do we offer? grnwink.gif

Do we offer active members? If the answer is no, then why not? What exactly is stopping, say you or Kowboy from starting to invite people into SeeD?
