He got home around the wrong 8-o'-clock. (If he said 8:00 AM, he returned at 8:02 PM. If he said 8:00 PM, he returned at 8:02 AM.)
Those who will remember, will speak fondly of the warm morning breeze.

He has all the artists' other paintings, also almost worthless, and he destroys them all so the last one is worth lots. (I have heard a similar one)

sry but similar makes the difference, the answer too is similar. keyword is painting. well you think it would be but the answer has nothing to do with the painting.

Okay nobobdy got it, well the answer was he wanted the frame which had a high value. The seller did not know this. Well here is the next one (good luck):

Leadfoot and Gumshoe
A woman is stopped for speeding. The police officer gives her a warning but the woman insists that she be given a ticket and a fine, which she promptly pays. Why?

And another

Six Foot Drop
A man standing on solid concrete dropped a tomato six feet, but it did not break or bruise. How come?

Sry but wrong and wrong. Here are some clues (yes, there is a clue section in the book) =

Leadfoot and Gumshoe -- She and the police officer and she was not trying to help anyone or impress him. She is acting from high moral principles, and was also protecting someone's reputation.

Six Foot Drop -- The tomato fell six feet. The man is fast, really fast. It was a regular tomato. (Like one from publix, or market basket or albertsons or shaws whatever your local food store is called.)
