I was reformatting one of my computers today(an e-machine)and everything was going fine until it was time to re-install Windows. When Windows was re-installing and I was setting the timezone/pc name/etc.,the whole system froze.

Ive tried rebooting and reinstalling Windows several times, but it always freezes back up. Anyone know how I can stop this?

If it`s a legit windows disk, it might be damaged slightly. Buy one of those DVD cleaners, they are fairly common and it`s easy to pick one up for less than £1O.

If it isn`t legit, MSN me.

This actually may not be a bad idea.

Our Win98 disc used to do the same thing, always freezing in the same spot during a reinstall. Burned a copy of it and the copy worked fine. The original had lots of surface scratches.
Those who will remember, will speak fondly of the warm morning breeze.

I'll try it. The only thing Im worried about is that the reformatting was completed before the freezing started. So I suspect the disk might not be the problem.
