Wow, I'm actually doing something?

http://www.arena.net...a-weekend-event

Hey guys! So as of this announcement by ANet with regards to the final beta weekend, it appears that Steamspur Mountains has become a gaping big hole in the place we used to call home. Fewer worlds is a blessing in my opinion, especially for aspects such as World vs World and quests and whatnot (hopefully they scale the game accordingly), but now we have the problem of figuring out what world we are going to station ourselves in.

I for one am proposing that we move to the Crystal Desert, as I've got a friend (and subsequently his whole group) who are planning on switching to that server due to facing similar problems.

Anyone else got any suggestions or preferences? It also throws in a little bit of nostalgia as our first guild hall was the Nomad's one (I think that's what it is called?). But yeah, it doesn't seem like there'll be too much problem with population caps either, seeing as all the servers are pretty much going to be bursting with people.

^^ Thanks Ayumi, you rock!! ^^

Poor Steamspur... I may not have spent very long there, but it already felt like home.

If you've got a friend moving to the Crystal Desert, do you know if it's because it's becoming a secondary hub for oceania players? I don't really care where we go, I know Matti was saying he'd like a server with at least some Australia/NZ/etc. population for the sake of WvW activity at the right times. I think Sea of Sorrows is remaining the main unofficial server for that region, but between that and some other online groups picking it in the past (Something Awful, I think?) I'm not sure if it'll still be too packed for us to reliably make it in. Ideally we'd want somewhere with a good mix of players from different time zones so that everyone is well served.

I still miss Nomad's Isle, that was a really cool hall.

I have no idea haha my mate's from online and American, although he stays up late all the time and is on the computer like 24/7 (he played like 48-50 hours in the first beta weekend or something ridiculous like that). Also, one of my mates in real life whom I'm bringing on board is an avid gamer so she can also help to keep him company haha. xD

Well I reckon we at least try it for this weekend, and then see what it's like, since everything gets wiped after this last event in preparation for the real deal.

Still dunno what profession I wanna try for this (oh my poor Mesmer...), or if I should just stick to the Mesmer again... mmm... either gonna be a Mesmer, Thief or Guardian. Yeah. Prolly Mesmer again. :P

I wish they had guesting in the game already... Sounds like I've got some friends planning to go on Sea of Sorrows. Not sure what I'll do yet, as you say it's only for the weekend and I probably won't get much of a chance to play until sunday. I might just play it by ear and see what's happening when I can actually play. Can always use it as a chance to scope out server population in preparation for launch, since we should try to get anyone we want to be playing WvW with to all sit on the same server.

Seems like there's free transfers for the first day and a bit of the weekend. So if I get up in time to play a bit tomorrow morning I might just jump on SoS and then see how things are panning out.

So the final proposal is for Crystal Desert? Since moving around is free, probably not a big issue, but figured I would check.
