First off, I'd like to say that I know it has taken me a long, long time to get this out. Truth is, it's been on my computer for some time now, I just haven't gotten around to posting until now.

Second, if you are offended/displeased/whatever with the use of your name, please don't hesitate to PM me or something and tell me.

Enjoy! You can skip this first little part here if you want to, it's just info on the races.

Speaking Races:

Dwarves:

Religious Alignment: Guthix

Height(average): 4' to 5'

Created by the god Guthix, Dwarves are a short, stocky people, inclined toward living underground. They are generally good-natured, and their hospitality is famed across the world. However, an angered Dwarf is one of the most fearsome things in the world. They are more likely to settle an argument with a swing of an axe than with words. The love all things metallic, and are excellent miners, smithies, and craftsmen. There are 3 Dwarf races:

Dwarves: Most numerous. Their smithing is excellent even by Dwarvish standards. Their mining abilities are the least of the Dwarves. Regular Dwarves are the weakest and poorest fighters of all Dwarves, though they are still very formidable.

Mountain Dwarves: Less numerous than Dwarves, but more so than Imcando Dwarves, also better fighters than Dwarves, but not as deadly as the Imcando Dwarves. Superb Miners. Less skilled at crafting than most Dwarves.

Imcando Dwarves: The least populous, but the best fighters in the Dwarven Kingdom are Imcando. Objects crafted by them are some of the most beautiful in the world. Smithing abilities are lacking however.

Elves:

Religious Alignment: Saradomin

Height(average): 6' to 7'(rare, most Elves are about 6' tall)

Saradomin's creation, Elves are fair creatures of great agility and intelligence. They were the first to discover Magic. There kindness and hospitality is rivaled only by the Dwarves. A clever folk, they are inclined to be skinny, and love all things natural. Their craftsmanship and smithing abilities are second only to the Dwarves, but Elvish items are usually enchanted in some way. They love to play games, and a new visitor to their lands is bound to have at least one trick played on him or her, usually to their embarrassment. Elvish warriors are extremely skilled in close combat, but their archery skills are even better. Their secrets of making runestones were lost with them when they departed to the east. Their hatred of Goblins is amazingly great. It is thought that Goblins attacked a small Elf colony once, and brutally slaughtered all the inhabitants, leading to an eternal feud. Person of note: Baxtorian was the greatest, and last Elf-lord. His wife, Glarial, was said to be the most beautiful person to ever walk the world, and when Baxtorian returned from a long campaign in the Second Age, and found her missing, and his people destroyed, is said to have fallen into despair and retreated to a home he made under a waterfall. The surviving Elves departed Runescape, traveling east.

Wood Elves: Darker skinned than their Sea Elf brethren, the Wood Elves are most skilled in archery, but lacking in close combat and Magic. They are also more agile than the Sea Elves, a necessity due to the fact that they dwell in trees.

Sea Elves: Dwelling mostly along the Sea of Runescape, these Elves are more learned than the Wood Elves, preferring to study Magic and the art of crafting more than fighting. They are, nevertheless, more skilled in close combat the Wood Elves, but their archery skills are less. Sea Elves built great cities of stone, while the Wood Elves preferred to live in trees.

Gnomes:

Religious Alignment: None(Gower Mages' creation)

Height(average) 3' to 4'

The idea of the Gower Mages, Gnomes are a green-skinned people of great Carpentry, Agility, and Cooking abilities. They are also very creative and intelligent, developing their Gnome Gilder for transportation all across Runescape. While they are very small, they are fierce warriors, especially when someone makes fun of them for their height. Gnome cooking, some of which is very unusual, is the best in the world. Gnomes also have a lot of Magic in them, which is evident in their ability to grow the "Spirit Tree".

The First Age: The Beginning

It must be noted that during the First Age, Zamorak's power was no where near that of his brothers, so weak in fact that he could be challenged by an extremely powerful mortal. Also, Elves did not use runestones to cast Magic, so learned were they that by mere words they could cast spells that were just as, if not more, powerful than those cast by runestones.

Chapter 1: Creations

When the Gower Mages first began to construct Runescape, it was nothing but a flat stretch of land. Slowly, under the guidance of Saradomin, Guthix, and Zamorak (who was not yet evil), it began to take form. Hills and mountains appeared. Water. Soon, the world was complete. During the creation, Zamorak's ideas were generally laughed off or brushed aside. This caused him to begin to nurture a deep hatred for everything conceived by his brothers and the Gower Mages. Many a dark night he spent creating his world. Bleak, filled with despair and death, he called his land the wilderness, and began populating it with his creatures. Skeletons, Zombies, Goblins(and their stronger brethren, the Hobgoblins), and all sorts of unnatural and hideous things. During this time, the Gower Mages were busy creating the first races. Saradomin's Elves, Guthix's Dwarves, and the Mages own creation, the Gnomes. After this, they populated the world with every manner of beast and animal. For many years the Free Races lived in peaceful bliss. One day, a group of Imcando Dwarves stumbled upon Zamorak's world, the wilderness. Before they could go back to tell the Free Races, they were captured. Zamorak tortured them for many a day and night, learning all the secrets of Runescape. After he had gotten the information he needed, he cast a mighty spell on them. Affected by the very force of Chaos, they were changed forever. This is how the Chaos Dwarves came into being.

Chapter 2: The calm before the storm

During a period of nearly sixty years the Elves and Dwarves colonized, advanced, and grew. Dwarves and Elves alike wrought many a beautiful work of gold or silver. During this time the Dwarves discover who to smith Mithril, and many great weapons are forged from it. Elf princes come from afar to have a coat of Mithril chain made. The Elves discover a large supply of Mithril, and begin trading it for weapons and armor. It was during this time that X Zolon, son of Gunthir, first discovered gems. Selling them to the Elves, he quickly became one of the richest Dwarves in all of Runescape. The Elves, after crafting many amulets and other items made with gold and gems, bestowed upon X Zolon the title of Elf-Friend, the first such Dwarf to be given the honor. The Elvish amulets were amazingly powerful, granting the wearer increased protection, Magical abilities, strength, and other things. There was one gem that could not be mined, however. Its discovery was actually an accident. As the Dwarves delved deeper and deeper into the world, they came upon a Black Dragon. Such was the horrible power of the beast that he slew over 450 Dwarves until, one day, X Zolon found him deep in his cavernous home underground. Armed with an enchanted shield, a gift of the Elves, X Zolon fought the dragon. The battle lasted for many hours, until at last X Zolon took a mighty swing with his axe, putting all his strength into it. When he hewed the mighty dragon, he took it's head home as a trophy. As he was coming out of the deep mine, he heard a something drop to the ground, and turning around, saw a purple gem rolling down the staircase. He chased after it and grabbed it just as it was about to roll off into a great abyss. He called it a Dragonstone. As a gift to the Elves for loaning him their shield, he gave them the stone. When King Dugar died, X Zolon became the second King of the Mountain Dwarves. At his coronation, a group of Elves arrived wishing to speak to the King. As a gift to their Elf-Friend, they gave him the amulet that they crafted out of the Dragonstone he found years ago.

But all was not well. During all of these events, Zamorak was creating a massive army with which he hoped to destroy Runescape. Four years after X Zolon became King, an army comprising of ten thousand Skeletons, ten thousand Zombies, twenty thousand Goblins, two thousand Hobgoblins, and five hundred Chaos Dwarves issued from the gates of his massive citadel in the wild. They first reached the area which is present-day Varrock, and finding a small Elf colony, destroyed it utterly. But one Elf escaped, and after many days of travel, cam at last to the Mountain Dwarf Kingdom. After hearing news of this terrible army, he sent messengers to the Elves, asking for all the support they could send. He then prepared his own army. Two thousand Imcando Dwarves, five thousand of his own Mountain Dwarf people, and ten thousand Dwarves assembled in a large field which is now Taverly. An army of seventeen thousand, ready to meet the horde of Zamorak. As scouts reported that Zamorak's army was less than a day away, seven thousand Sea Elves arrived on great ships, landing on the shores near Taverly, and the Wood Elves came through the Mountain Dwarf Kingdom. An army thirty thousands strong, preparing to meet an army of over forty thousand.

Chapter 3: The Great Battle

As the army of Zamorak arrived in the field, King X Zolon of the Dwarves, along with Ohtaren, Lord of the Elves, rode out to meet the Commander of Evil, Bathgog the Chaos Dwarf. Standing toe to toe with the fallen Dwarf, X Zolon said: "This is your last chance. Return to your master and tell him that we shall not be cowed by him, or stand and fight. What shall you do?" Such was the power revealed in X Zolon that all the armies of Zamorak quailed and faltered. Even Bathgog looked afraid. But looking over at the armies of the Free Races, and seeing their numbers, he laughed. Soon the entire army of Zamorak was laughing, and hideous sound that all who survived the coming battle shivered whenever they thought of the sound. Bathgog said: "Ha! I do not fear you or your army! Go back to your command and prepare to die!" and he turned and walked away. The drawing of the curved scimitars of the Skeletons was a like the flashing of the sun. Goblins began ramming their spears into the ground, creating a noise like that of an earthquake. Slowly they began to move forward. Grimly the Dwarves hefted their mighty axes. The scrape of arrows being fitted to bows and drawn back was a mighty sound. Then Ohtaren, Lord of the Elves spoke. "Ready!" silence for several seconds as the Army of Evil came within bow range. "Fire!" The whistling arrows filled the sky like a cloud, and descending on the Army of Evil, decimated the first five ranks. Then they charged. With a mighty cry the Dwarves surged forward, and soon the screams of death filled the air. Waiting until the last possible second, the Elves were able to release three more volleys of arrows before drawing their massive two-handed swords. The charge of the Goblins broke upon the Elves like a wave upon a wall. For many hours the battle raged, until it seemed that all hope was lost for the Free Races. The Dwarves had retreated into their caves, hoping the withstand a siege, while the Elves were fighting a way back to their ships. After slaying many of Zamorak's Minions in their desperate charge to the shores, they saw that all that stood between them and their ships was the Chaos Dwarves, whose ranks had barely been touched, so strong in battle were they. As the Elves halted before them, the rest of the army surrounded them. Hopelessly outnumbered, they prepared for their final stand. As Bathgog prepared to order his troops to attack, there came mighty blast of a horn. Startled, Bathgog turned to see a fleet of ships sailing hard towards them. As the ships landed, they disgorged a three thousand strong army of Gnomes! Towering of the leader of the Gnomes, Bathgog laughed, saying: "Is this all that remains to resist us? An army of tiny little Gnomes? Ha!" He began to laugh. Again all the remaining army of Zamorak began to laugh. Two seconds later, Bathgog was no longer laughing, but falling to the ground, the spear of the Gnome leader jammed through his eye socket and into his brain. With a yell, the Gnomes charged upon the Army of Zamorak, which quickly fell back and regrouped, allowing the Gnomes to reach to Elves. As the Army of Evil charged upon the Gnomes and Elves, the Dwarves issued from their caves, and soon the army was trapped between the proverbial Dwarf hammer and anvil. Smashing the Evil army, the Free Races of Runescape turned their retreat into an onslaught. Skeletons, Zombies, and Goblins flew this way and that, casting aside their weapons and fleeing back to the wild. It is said that scarcely two thousand of Zamorak's Army escaped that day. But the Free Races were not unharmed. Less than three thousand Elves remained alive, many of whom were wounded. The Gnomes had suffered hardly any losses, but the Dwarves were the hardest hit. Only two hundred Imcando Dwarves remained alive, and only four thousand Dwarves would return to their anvils. The Mountain Dwarves were the least damaged, due to the leadership of X Zolon. Three thousands were alive. The next day, as the leaders met, Ohtaren of the Elves promised ten thousand more Elves within a day, as scouts had reported that there were none of Zamorak's Minions within striking distance of the Elf cities. The Gnome leader said that six thousand more Gnomes would arrive in two days time. X Zolon said that he could spare little more strength, as he had put nearly the entire army of the Dwarves on the battlefield already. After three days, thirteen thousand Elves, nine thousand Gnomes, and seven thousand Dwarves marched towards the wild, hoping to annihilate Zamorak's fortress one and for all...

Chapter 4: Zamorak's Fall

As the armies of the Free Races of Runescape marched deeper into the wild, they encountered little resistance. As they came upon Zamorak's massive tower, his last hope, an army of ten thousand Goblins, came forth. Quickly Swept aside by the Free Races, they camped outside the tower for the night. Ohtaren of the Elves alone went up into the tower, and for two days there was heard the crack of lightning, and other strange sounds on the morning of the third day, a weary and battered Ohtaren came down the stairs of the tower. As he told X Zolon of his battle with Zamorak, and how he defeated him, a massive explosion was heard. Looking up at the tower, they saw that the upper portion of it was blown off, and Zamorak floated down to the ground. In his mortal form, Zamorak was twelve feet tall, and wielding a mace that was akin to a battering ram. With one swing of his mace, he obliterated three hundred Dwarves. A great cry rose in the camp, and soon the army came to oppose him. Preparing his runestones, he cast a spell that vaporized a full nine hundred Gnomes. A weary Ohtaren cast a spell, but it simply dissolved upon Zamorak's armor. Turning, Zamorak swung his mace at Ohtaren, knocking him three hundred feet. Ohtaren's fellow Elf-Lord, Rabk, seeing his friends death, spoke this incantation: "Tincya en' russe tuulo' moriloomir", the Elvish spell for Chain Lightning. So powerful was Rabk in his spell that he was destroyed in the lightning, but not in vain. As the lightning coursed into Zamorak, he let out a terrible cry, and then disinigrated. All that was left was his mace and armor, which were quickly destroyed by lesser spells now that the force of Chaos had left them. Then Saradomin himself cast fire down on the tower, which was destroyed and the remains never found. Preparing the body of Ohtaren and the ashes of Rabk, the armies then left and went back to their peoples. Little did they know that Zamorak's spirit had survived, and he nursed a deep hatred towards the Elves from then after. Over hundreds of years he became more powerful, more so than his brothers after a time.

Chapter 5: The Long Peace

After the defeat of Zamorak, the Free Races of Runescape lived in peace and prosperity. During this time Dwarven smiths discovered a metal the called Adamantine. Stronger than Mithril, it was however, far more rare, so few during this age ever had a weapon or suit of armor made from Adamantine. In fact, the only full suit of Adamantine armor to have existed during this age belonged to King X Zolon, which was passed down to his decedents, along with his Dragonstone Amulet. After four hundred fifty years of life, King X Zolon died. His armor, axe and amulet were passed on to his son, who became the third King of the Mountain Dwarves. The First Age is said to have ended with the passing of King X Zolon, and the crowning of his son.

Zaros is, to quote JAGeX, a "lesser god". Maybe in the Second Age or something. Besides, I wrote this long before Zaros' existance was known.

Hehe Hyper you're in it, just not in the First Age. I'm making an effort to get everyone in eventually. But PM me if you don't want me to use you.

This is like LOTR

How so?

Theoden, King of Rohan says something distantly similar to this in the movie of The Two Towers. So sue me.

And the Elvish I mentioned IS, in fact, from Tolkien's writings. Find me another Elvish language as well developed and I'll use that.

Zamorak uses a mace. So does Sauron in the Last Battle. If that's plagerism, maybe I shouldn't use any weapons at all, hmm?

That's about all I can think of...

Honestly I think you just skimmed my writing and formed an assumption based on a tiny little bit of reading. Otherwise you would've seen that it's hardly similar at all. If you don't want to take the time to read the whole thing, don't comment. And ESPECIALLY not a somewhat spammy comment like that. Good lord...

Thank you,

~Grimbold

P.S. Its "LotR", not "LOTR".

1: So epic battles and/or battles with number equivelent to numbers in LotR are plagerism? Jeez people...

2: Humans do not appear until the Second Age, and don't become prolific until the Third Age. Check RuneScape if you don't believe me.

3: I'm not mad about LOTR, lol. Just a little tidbit of information. I was ticked 'cause you obviously didn't read the whole thing, and then commented about how it resembled LotR based on a few general similarites. (like those I have pointed out)
