I cant believe it! I got hacked, and about 10 people on my friends list have as well. I hate hackers. Now i truly know how X Zolon feels. I had my life in my bank. Although it looks like Jagex got the hacker before they could finsh emptying my bank, thank god. They still got all my best stuff tho. Has anyone else apart from zolly been hacked recently? Im only grateful i got my character back. Id rather keep my hard earned stats than have to start all over again.

So how many others have fallen prey to hackers?

sry about your hacking if i had any extra money i would help you out some but ive gotta spend my money on raw lobby certs and i hope i dont get hacked because ive got almost 3k raw lobby certs that would b taken plus a red p hat so i hope it doesnt happen to me.

Actually, I'd say hackings have decreased. We used to have like a hacking per week with SeeDs, and that's gone down.

And I agree with hyperfried; hacking incedents have decreased in SeeD. Yet SeeDs are still hacked since there are so many hackers in Runescape. Hopefully the hacking incedents will decrease even more once Runescape 3D has come (they'll want to try it out).

I can think of a way you may have been hacked. Here's how it works:

• 1. "Hacker" finds a random, naive person. They keylog them, scam them, or do something to get on their account.
• 2. After getting on the account, the cracker starts takling to people on their friends list. They ask everyone for their password, acting like they'll do it only to help them and say "I'm your friend... I wouldn't take your stuff!" If the person refuses, they shrug it off and act friendly so they won't be reported.
• 3. After getting all passwords, transfers items to his/ her own account. Uses passwords to go on other accounts and repeat the process, forming a chain of account thefts.

My friend's friend got "hacked" in the same way. He was... I think, then 4th link in a chain.

Note: You weren't hacked, you had your account stolen. The only way you could be "hacked" is if the hacker got into JAGeX's system, but if they could do that they probably wouldn't play RuneScape anyway. If they did, they would probably just edit their own account. You either gave someone your password, had someone guess it, or got keylogged... but you weren't hacked.

And hacking with the intent of doing harm is "cracking."

Sorry you lost some of your stuff. Go get Ad-Aware, Spybot Search-&-Destroy, and Swat-It!, run them, run your virus scanner, change your password, and change your recovery questions. If the person knows your recoveries, contact JAGeX Customer Service... hopefully they can solve it.

X Zolon got 'hacked' twice in a row (Runescape then SeeD forums), but apart from that and this i can't think of much else. With your stats I think you could build back up your bank within a fortnight or two. Good luck, and sorry to hear you lost it all.

I got hacked once, then almost got hacked again by the same guy, I cut it so close the recovery questions were on there 13th day before they were going to change.
