Galileo didn't actually invent the telescope, but instead greatly improved it and was the first to look up at the sky with one. Before him they were just used for other purposes. Using it though, Galileo redefined our universe.

He was the first to spot moons on Jupiter, view the phases of Venus, and see sunspots (which he saw move and correctly came to the conclusion that the sun was spinning). From this information Galileo was basically able to prove that the earth isn't the center of the universe.

Along with this, he viewed nebulae and other distant objects. His discoveries changed the definition of the universe.

Hehe, he also became blind after a while. They say that he looked at the sun too much without proper protection coolgleamA.gif

YEah, He didn't invent it bluetongue.gif It was a (Dutch?) Invention.

His ideas caused controversy with the church, and because of that, he couldn't publish his book. (Darn you Aristotle!)
