Well, with primaries facing us, I thought that we should all reflect upon the coming presidential election of 2004. Here's a couple questions to ponder over before you start promoting/degrading certain candidates or parties.

1) What do you think will be the most major issues to impact the election?
2) How do you think opposing beliefs regarding those issues will impact the election?

Think about these two basic questions in a non-biased way. What are the major issues facing the country, and how will those issues impact the election? Before even thinking about candidates, think about that. I'll throw in some stuff regarding the candidates eventually, or someone else probably will before that, but whatever. Try to think about these questions without any personal biases, and reply with what you think.

(( For those that aren't in the US, this probably doesn't concern you. ))

Well, this topic got almost no attention, as it was almost immediately bumped from the top of the forum. So, thought I'd give it a new spark with information directly related to candidates and everyone's views, in addition to the various issues on which they stand. Hopefully, everyone will post their results from this.

i'm not from the US but...
1. The war on iraq - if bush finds WMD's then i think he will probably be in for another term.

America's trust in Bush - his popularity has been declining since thw iraq war.

2.Well like i said if bush get's the evidence then he's back in IMO but Kerry will probably win unless bush does.

I think gays will be a topic for debate. Also in IL, the two nominations for Senate are Barack Obama as a Democrat and Jack Ryan as a Republican. The pair have close to nothing in common, and Obama keeps pressing Ryan on some divorce issues from 1999.

That's my say. bluetongue.gif

Oh yeah, I'm with Kerry.

i think that it would mainly be based on the war on terror and how each of them would plan on stopping it and also about the Mission to Mars and what they would do to better that mission.

I'm not from the US or anything, but after reading killer's quotes I need to say this:

What difference does it make if they have been in the militaty or not?

And if Kerry wins, would it be because he's a Vietnam Vet.?

Most people don't like to nominate officials who have been in the military. Most don't know anything about politics and they are power hungry for fighting.

Still, I'm voting for Kerry this year and I hope he takes office.

Let me tell you something about Kerry, it's because he was a Vietnam vet. that proves he shouldn't be president, and why many other vets dislike him.
1. Kerry was of a low rank showing no leadership capabilities. He allowed his comrades to fight the enemies before he went ashore to claim the glory by picking off wounded soldiers.
2. Kerry received 3 purple hearts for flesh wounds. Technically, you could get a purple heart for a cut you got while shaving as long as you were at war. He only lost 2 days of service time for the combined wounds. Event hen, he tried to escape the military and his duty because he received those 3 wounds.

Kerry is nothing but a coward and should never see the oval office.

So who would you choose A-W-2? You have only expressed why one person shouldn't be in, but nothing to say who should be in.

57% Kerry
56% Bush

If I was able to vote, I would vote for Bush.

Why?

No matter how much I agree with any of Kerry's ideas, he believes that U.N. support is required before any type of military or similiar action. The U.N. in my opinion is complete crap. Ask me if you want to know why.

Why, in your opinion, is the UN a load of crap, Muler?

Lets make this vague because I don't have a lot of time right now...

The U.N. is Anti-American. They have to be completely politically correct and are very hesitant to intervene. They are Anti-Semetic and Anti-Israel. They are unwilling to identify some Palestinians as terrorists. Hamas, for example, is a terrorist organization. But no, the U.N. says they are rebels. Blah blah you get the picture I don't feel like adding more for now.

Well, I don't know nearly as much about Israel and Palestine as Muler does. But I agree entirely that the UN doesn't learn from the mistakes of the past, and thus is still against taking action against ruthless dictators rising up. Even though the last time we let a dictator rise to power and build up a strong military, he killed six million innocent people, the UN still hasn't learned from that mistake. It still clings to the appeasement policies that allowed Hitler to obtain early victories in WWII such as Czekolslavakia (that's most likely spelled wrong) with little effort. The UN still clings to the appeasement that allows dictators to thrive, that's why it's mostly useless.
