Visual Basic, anyone? I'm teaching myself.

Hey guys. My sis found an old visual basic 6 program + guide, and I'm like "damn, this is awesome!", and I'm starting to teach myself.

Anyone here have some experience with VB6? I heard its the best language to make MMORPGs. True?

i have a little knowledge of Blitz basic a more simple editor cant make big games but no i have visual basic but i dont know much about it

the runescape assistant or visual basic?

VB: Making programs that do just about anything.
RA: Helps you out with RS. Kinda like a client, but not really.

I'm taking visual basic as an elective for school, learning very basic things, though. (no pun...well, maybe bluetongue.gif)

I took it as an elective last year, learnt a little.

If you're just starting, a runescape toolkit might be a little advanced. Doubt I'd be able to make a good one, eheh... icon_sweatdrop.gif


I don't think Visual Basic is used in games all that much, but it would suit quite well for simple things like a toolkit.

I doubt there are any major RPGs made in VB, most games nowadays are made in C++ or homemade languages.

Exactly... Runescape is C++ with a few edited software changes to make their game unique, but i'm still trying to make a spoof of runescape, i am going to call it RabbitWars, everyone is a class of rabbit, they look like the biker mice from mars, but only with rabbit bodies... hehe. Warrior class, Mage Class, Ranger Class, Fighter Class - all 3 skills. Rogue - Mage and Ranger, still thinking of some other classes, once i get their character mapping finished I will post their images here.

Actually RuneScape is made in Java.
