Want To Have A Unique Medal, And Be The First?

I mentioned this in a few places recently, but we are now implementing a sort of official medal system. In everyone's profiles there should now be a "Medal" field that cannot be edited (unless you're a SMod/GMod or Admin). In this field anything from certain stated board-related accomplishments to winning event competitions could potentially result in you receiving a medal. Not all events will qualify, and for any other community-related things there will be a mention of the medal, so they won't usually be spontaneous.

(if you have a contest in the Event Forum with enough involved, you may contact an SMod or above for permission to offer a medal)

There are no physical gains in terms of abilities or anything, but they would be like mementos to look at later which could mean something to you or others who view your profile. Unless something prevents it from continuing (which I severely doubt, just need to say that for anything along these lines), these medals will remain attached to your name throughout the life of your account.

There is a certain pre-determined day sometime during the next two weeks (sometime between 10-12 PM Eastern Standard Time; closer to 12 if members are close), when the top poster for the day will receive this unique award.

The 'top poster' doesn't include posts in the Insanity Board, so you'll need to post meaningful posts and threads elsewhere.

Anyone can get it, regardless of whether they're a new or old member.

So don't let this opportunity go away, this medal can surely be a topic of interest and mystery in the future.

"Spam" is anything meaningless or off topic for no logical reason. Spam can be anything from multi-paragraph to a single emoticon. At the same time, something that is on topic and 'meaningful' can be a single emoticon long if not obsessive or done for the sake of posting, and if there is a reason or message behind it. A short length has a general correlation with spam, but it isn't what makes it spam.

I'm not asking for long psychological posts about a theory saying that King Tut could have invented the first toothpick and how it relates to the above statement about runecrafting (backed up with evidence from the concept of the electromagnetic spectrum and the Watergate scandal), but I'm just asking that what people post is on topic.

If someone is obviously spamming it up he/she will be disqualified, but there's nothing wrong with posting more than usual. New posts and threads keep the place alive and interesting (and one cannot expect everything to be informative), if this helps promote members to post then it would benefit the community. Members are complaining about activity, and increasing the number of posts and threads is the first step to fixing it from the site's perspective. Since others don't seem to want to do it I may as well give incentive.

Besides, this hasn't really sparked much spam that I can see (comments aren't necessarily 'spam'), and members shouldn't be so serious as to lose their sense of humor.
