It has come to my attention with a few recent incidents that members don't realize the tools given to them for solving moderation-related problems, and for that matter directing the site to begin with. I understand that many members would make good moderators (unfortunately there aren't enough spots for everyone to be one), and that now and then mistakes are made by those who are moderators, but the way to fix these problems is not to blow them up and make them problems. Contrary to what some think, the moderators are here to serve the members, and the members are indeed the ones who should be directing the community. This is not often understood due to misconceptions and possibly just due to lack of knowledge of the tools given to provide this power, but the mod team is only directing the community as long as no one else is stepping up to do it.

- First of all, we have a forum for queries regarding moderation. If a moderator ever takes what you feel to be the incorrect action in a situation, or you want to get the moderators' attention to take care of something that needs moderation, you should post a thread in the Headmaster's Office forum. That should be the first place you go. Seeing how it is one of our least active root forums, it either means that things are actually pretty good right now or that the members don't realize it's there. Contrary to what some think, we do indeed check it, and we will respond to you. While it is at the bottom it is practically right next to the hidden moderator forum, so even though it may not be in practical view of every member here, the moderators will see what is posted there.

Heck, lol, if everyone wants me to, I'll stick the moderator forum inside the Headmaster's Office to force moderators to see what's there... And I'm not joking about that either bluetongue.gif

- Second of all, we have a Suggestion Forum. If you have any constructive ideas for the site or community, you should post it there. Contrary to what some think, when I go to update the site, I do check that forum to see what the members want. Obviously we can't implement everything that is posted there, but everything is considered. Also, while we may not implement an update in the timeframe of when it was posted (due to technical reasons or otherwise), we have been known to record certain suggestions and implement them at a later date when thought to be of the greatest benefit to everyone. That forum is very important, and gives members a direct influence on the site's direction.

- Third of all, contrary to what some members like to say, the admin team and moderator team is receptive to feedback. While the admins may not be the easiest to contact via PM, you can contact them on messengers. Moderators can easily be reached with PMs, and they are here to help with any issues within their power. Regardless of what you have done previously, whether good or bad, or if you are new and have some thought-to-be dumb questions, both the mod team and admin team will be more than glad to help you.

- Fourth of all, everyone can schedule events and lead factions of SeeD. That is a little out of the scope of this post, but I thought that I would mention it since members can also very directly lead our clan in the games in which we have a presence (or perhaps where we do not yet have a presence).

Overall, the members have many tools to help them conduct and lead the community. To those who don't realize this, things may seem typical and moderator-led, but that most definitely doesn't have to be the case. All the tools are available to you to lead the community and clan... All it takes is for you to use them. grnwink.gif

Oh and just so people know, but I'm sure most people do but anyway, if you hit the report post button all super moderators and the forums moderators are notified (At least as far as my email states *looks at previously reported stuff*) ..hmm..headbang.gif -- I'm also guessing but I think the admins may recieve it too, anyway from what I understand the moderator(s) of that forum and the super moderators are all notified when the report button is clicked -- but I could be wrong.

Indeed, moderators and admins will receive the report.

Just remember to send only one report per issue though, lol, because one report sends the message to basically every mod who can potentially take care of the situation.

Yeah, only send one report, it can get confusing for mods when you get reports in groups of threes. bluetongue.gif

And yeah, the SUggestion Forum is a great tool that should be used more often. Just because your idea isn't implemented doesn't mean it never will be. Your suggestion could even influence similar idea to improve the forums/site. So yeah, never be afraid to post there. grnwink.gif

Eviiiiiil. bluetongue.gif It is true that it's visible by mods though when we go to MD, after so long I just subconsciously check it whenever viewing the boards.

I wasn't aware that there were any problems regarding the moderators. o_0

Eh, it's probably because I only read about 10% of the recent posts. XD

Cspace apparently likes to say contrary...

I really can't vouch for how much people report things, mainly because no one takes anything seriously in the IB, much less things created to be serious, so I have it easy. I THINK.
HI! I'M BACK SPORADICALLY! Nobody probably remembers me :(

I just thought I'd add that if you want to discuss something over a messenger instead of over PM, a lot of the moderation team has AIM, MSN or both, and if they've put their details in the topic here or in their profile then don't be afraid to add them. Or if you want to just chat, contrary to popular belief most of us don't bite. bluetongue.gif

PS. Oh, you can also get yourself added to that contact list if you want, just post there and a mod or super mod will add you when they get a chance to.

PPS. Hmm... Anyone else think that now the roles of General Discussion and the Cafeteria have changed a bit, that the contact list topic thing might suit better in GD? bluetongue.gif

Well, there are rarely fueds/flame wars in General Dicussion, Cafateria or anywhere on the board... the only time that ever happens is when lil noobs in the RuneScape forum start squabling with each other and talking about how they will hack other people's accounts and such. :-\
