Quick question about GW: Factions.
Does it require the first Guild Wars to play? Or can you just get Factions and play with others on both games?

Factions is a stand alone game. You will obviously be missing out on a lot of the wonderful features of the original guild wars, but it is not necessary to own Prophecies (original GW game) in order to play Factions.

Will I be able to interact with people from Prophecies on Factions if I don't own the original?

You wont have access to the prophecies areas, but I'd imagine you can chat with them. If they and you both have factions, I think you can play factions together.

Hehe, yes, it is easier for us that have had the original for so long to want to look forward to buying Factions, so we're all a little bias.
But like Alpha said, Factions is a stand alone game, meaning it has its own storyline, so you wouldn't really be missing much in that regard. But I would think most of us will be playing our newbies in Factions come the end of April.

Guild Wars Prophecies is a pretty darn good game. We're all just so sick of it that it doesn't appeal to us as much as it once did. Factions looks fun, so I'd go with it.

No way! I love Prophecies to bits! Prophecies is way awesome.
If you do get Factions, you'll be able to play with our Factions characters and then we can bring our Prophecies characters over if we combine the two games and activate the Port city of Cantha.
Factions only looks good for the armour.
