I was wondering if im allowed to try to get struggling clans to merge and become part of seeD. When the wildy was removed many clans took a huge toll, and i know admins in several clans that are clawing for life. I tried to unite UFF and turn them into seeD however the administration got back up and now there fine, which is a good thing i guess. However there are still many other clans out there that consist of 10 or less loyal members, but they can't do much together. If they join seeD, then they will be active and they will be able to attend our pk trips. If i can then i will go do it ASAP, however i want to hear everyones comments. Tthis will bring many good members to us, however now and then we may get a "bad-apple", because that happens when you expand clans anyways.

If they would like to come to SeeD, I really think that'd be great! I see nothing bad coming from it.. It's more activity and members towards our Runescape Faction, and the forums in general

They put something in to replace it, and the wilderness is still there, but just not for player killing. There are still PK areas, and more will be added eventually. It was done for two reasons: 1) To combat real world trading (due to the mass of the area, people could RWT if they found a nice secluded world and area), and 2) To make the desired PK area smaller, so PKers could find one another more faster and easier. The size of the wilderness was getting way to big to find someone effectively and easily, without having to resort to 'hot spots' yourself (eg: greater, church, rogues, chaos elemental, knights, etc).

We're always happy to have new members join of course, but I think in the past we've seen that 'merges' as such can be full of unforeseen difficulties. People that are in command of their own clan rarely like to give up control, which is certainly understandable. I guess it depends what you mean by a merge, really. Then again I don't really have anything to do with the RS faction these days, so I guess I should probably just let them sort things out.

I think the easiest way to do it is just to offer the individuals to join up, and that way it isn't a clan joining (merging into) a clan, but rather individuals joining a clan. This way if one decides that SeeD isn't right for them, they don't have pressure to continue due to their clan still being here. If the clan(s) in question are considering closing down anyway, and you have spoken to the leader(s) about it, then I see no harm in telling member(s) about this clan. However you shouldn't attempt to steal* away members, it doesn't seem that is what you mean, but I just want to put that out there.

steal* - By 'steal' I mean telling people about this clan, on their current clan's forums, without permission from the clan owner(s). That could be seen as trying to take their members away, and that could lead to many misunderstandings.

i understand wat u and kimo are saying and i agreem however most leaders, if they truly care for there clan, will give up their position for the clans good. I mean once they join their old members will still look up to the former leader. however for the time being ill just do indivicuals. i already got one rs friend to join, he should be joining within 2 days too.

How many clans have you been in? Most people i've known would rather disband and go their individual ways than merge. Besides, what do you think the reaction would be if you pretty much said: "Merge with us, or you don't care about your clan."?

IMO, having clans merge into SeeD sets a bad precedence. Sure, we see it has helping but I assure you that a lot of people will see it as the big clan taking out smaller clans so it can get bigger, and thats Not the image we want. So, based on this and previous experience, I no longer endorse clan merges. I'll support one if it's decided, but i'll never do it personally.

So, like previously stated, stick to individuals.

For example, if UFF or any clan wanted to "merge" again, I don't think giving them a separate forum as last time would be a good idea. It seemed good the time that this was tried, but I agree with Stuffy on past experiences where a 'true' merger like that wouldn't go over too well anymore. Plus it isolates them from the entire community - sometimes they won't go outside their own board.

Having members come on their own will is great, don't get me wrong. I still definitely think it'd be great if other members would join here, it's just like recruitment really

wat i mean is that they will become a seeD member. and as for leaders to rather to disband their clan then a join another one, there pretty self-ish. United Runescape Rebels merged with CT just recently, i helped lenny (CT's leader) out around their forum with the merge. UFF almost did merge with us, and if you think about it even though a person may be a leader in a clan, they will still want to be in an active clan. I'd rather join an active clan then being stuck with a dead one.

The problem with UFF is that most of them didn't want it to happen, and a few select individuals here didn't want it to happen, so naturally there was drama. And as far as I can tell, other full clan 'mergers' will end up the same way if tried again.

What happened to alliances? I don't see any harm in those, and it could be as simple as linking to each other's sites. And the people in our alliances could still be able to join here and be part of our community while remaining in their original clan, since we don't have that "one-clan-only" requirement.

so u partially agree with MoS then? u didn't like his statement "Merge with us, or you don't care about your clan.", but other than that ur fine with this right? And its not like most of these "clans" are real clans. Most of them are just a bunch of rl friends who tried to get a clan going. And most of them are trying to already find a new clan to join. So we would just be providing that clan they are looking for already.

I dont want to kill or remove other strong clans, and UFF is a good example of this. Yes when they only had like 5 active members and the administration wanted them to come here i was all for it, but now topgun and gunner have gotten UFF up and going again with over 35 active members. I want their to be more clans like seeD and UFF. What im proposing is that we take in the clans that still haven't gotten back up and that still want to join another clan.
