OOC: No worries about what Neraphym did. In this situation with so many players, and so many un-named enemies, waiting for a response for everything would be somewhat tedious. As long as it's realistic, I don't mind if someone speaks for one of these fiends.

*****************************

The storm above grows darker, and lightning arcs across the clouds seeming to ignite them in great flashes of light. There is still no rain, and the increasing strength of the wind is just picking up more dust. These are definitely not good conditions for a battle, and this is made worse by the slight tremors that are now constant throughout the desert, never seeming to end. In the distance toward the south, one can see fiery entities approaching... Reknosks of much greater power than those surrounding Maldenar already. These are probably the same ones that a few of the adventurers previously saw while chasing the elusive relic and its keepers.

The wights have mostly been defeated, but the situation has not become much better. The first wave of reknosks has reached the town, and the last fortification is their target. If the knights are defeated, Maldenar will be taken by The Fallen... Along with what it is that he wants here.

It may be possible to leave the market and escape the battle, but such an attempt will most likely fail. If one can escape the remaining wights, and then the reknosks, the storm itself will probably win in the end. There seems to be a wall of dust revolving around about ten miles outside of Maldenar, and everywhere outside the town is being subjected to intense lightning. As bad as it is, this desert town seems to be at the eye of the storm.

------------------------

"Ready your weapons!" calls Sir Flansburgh, the last remaining captain in this fight. One reknosk approaches the market from the north, and two approach from the south. The ruined command building will probably be good cover for those with ranged weapons, while the rest would probably be best around the corners of the still-standing buildings in the area. This would be a good position for an ambush when a reknosk gets close enough, and the rain of arrows has left them slightly vulnerable to further attacks. There might actually be a chance to fight off the first wave...

By now, Scaf has entered the city's limits and weaved himself into the market place from the east. He figured it was the most advantageous point to be at...since so many guards and knights were there.

On his way, Scaf unslings his other sword and slides them together, forming a rather massive two handed sword. Still, he walks without encumbrance.

While just the look of a bipedal wolf would be enough to scare the guards, a bipedal wolf with a large sword was another.
"A regular old party, eh? You guys look like you could use one more."
He then takes a position near one of the buildings near the Southern front--ready to bottleneck the two Reknosks.

Wait for Opportunity
Exploit Weak Point
Knight's Stance
Titan Strike

Scaf waits for the opportune moment to strike the second Reknosk that passes. Having never fought one of these foul demons before, he searches for a weak spot in their hide, then delivers a powerful cleave to it. If no such spot exists, he aims for their leg.

Aether looked to the Marketplace and back to the reknosks. He had no desire to return to the Marketplace. A final stand? That's unlikely. The reknosks just have to step on us and it's game over. He looked beyond the creatures to the wall of revolving dust. Aether whistled. "Now that's a sandstorm."
He decided to help his apparent ally, Ziggy, as he realised he was wasn't contributing enough. Attacking at this point would be pointless and suicidal, he thought. But if we managed to catch it off-guard...
Then Ziggy threw what appeared to be some sort of grenade at the creature. Aether grinned. Perfect, he thought. He prepared to attack as the grenade exploded.

All three fiends enter the market at nearly the same moment. The archers loose their arrows, the knights run from their cover to attack, and the reknosks appear to be somewhat surprised by the ambush. One falls soon after Scaf strikes, Ziggy's grenade explodes, and the archers release many fiery arrows toward it. The other two swing wildly, smashing buildings and kicking over the fortifications. The knights keep fighting despite the odds against them.

During this battle in the market, the reknosk to the east is now close to Maldenar. It approaches Rahvus and prepares to finally defeat him on its way into town.

OOC: So, continuing what I was asking before, Cspace, does that mean that I can -- or can't -- have a playable character be a vampire?

OOC: I could make it possible since they exist in the plot. You can make a Vampir character now, and I'll add it to the list soon.

Elijah Blanchard arrives at Maldenar only to see it being invaded by what it appears to be demons of some sort. As he gets closer he sees a person who appears to be quite badly wounded and that a demon is closing in on him so he charges forward and swings his battle axe directly towards the legs of the demon.

The towering canine's disposition seems to be anything but fear. He is having, as he said earlier, a party! After dispatching one of the demons with the help of archers and explosions of some sort, he immediately makes a dash for the second Reknosk that entered from the South.

"Where do you think you're going?!"
He snarls as he scales up the demon's leg to cleave at his breast.

OOC: Yeah, you can join this one right now if you want, Obi bluetongue.gif

Rahvus stood shakily, leaning heavily on the wall behind him with one arm for support. His vision swam, as if he had gotten up too fast, though he had risen at a truly minimal speed. He had no explanation for his dizziness, and then he felt something wet sliding past his eye, down his cheek, onto his chin. Raising his hand up, he felt at the origin of the feeling -- and his hand came back bloody.

A head wound? His fevered mind wondered when that could possibly have happened. But as the dizziness increased, thoughts broke into mere fragments of sentences... His head spun as he struggled to stay standing. He closed his eyes, leaning even more against the wall, trying to clear his head to think rationally. The endeavor seemed near to impossible... Finally, the pain receded slightly. He opened his eyes and looked around. A great sound of commotion sounded somewhere down the street from his position. He turned his gaze slowly in that direction, trying not to provoke another wave of pain. Yet what met his gaze almost managed to clear his mind a slight amount, as his subconscious realized the gravity of the situation.

One of those beasts, a reknosk, was coming straight for him. Its great size allowed it to cover the distance quickly, the strides of its legs halving the distance in what seemed naught but moments. His legs automatically turned him in the opposite direction, and he began shambling forward once more. The pain began to increase once more as he physically exerted himself, but he ignored it, stalwartly forging forward. He glanced back over his shoulder, seeing the creature far closer to him than he would have liked. It couldn't be more than two hundred paces away... It would only be seconds before it reached him.

But then a figure appeared in front of the reknosk, and though the beast's great stature made a dwarf of the man, he attacked just the same, blocking the seemingly undead creature's path. Hopefully this could allow him enough time to find a place to hide. The pain seemed about to split his head in two... It seemed as if a giant nail had been placed against it, and was now being slowly hammered into it as wave after wave assailed him. The agony resonated throughout his entire body, his various wounds seeming to be epicenters. He would be overcome by it in a short time. He needed... to stop...

His gaze fell upon a trapdoor within the remains of what must have once been a building. Not a wall still stood, and the trapdoor itself was mostly under rubble and shattered timbers. But he lumbered towards it, almost collapsing upon it as he reached it. His feeble arms desperately pushed away the pieces of worked stone, and his fingers curled around the ring attached to the trapdoor, pulling it up. The great mass of wood should have been easy to raise, but in his state, it was nearly impossible. At last, he seemed to have raised it enough that he could crawl through...

As he pushed himself into it, his hands wrapped around the top few rungs of a ladder, and he slowly began lowering himself. The pain was too much... His foot slipped off of its rung, and he lost his balance, falling...

The fall was short, but as he fell backwards, his head snapped back, colliding roughly in the floor. In the darkness of the cellar he was in, Rahvus fell unconscious, swallowed in darkness.

Aether's eyes followed Ziggy's grenade until the moment it exploded. At that point, he ran towards the reknosk. He opened up the mini-keyboard on his left arm and selected the "Hotkeys" option. He pressed a key...

>Activate Jump Module

His leg armor allowed him to jump towards the reknosk at speed. He slashed his sword at the creature's neck as he flew past.

>Deactivate Jump Module
>Activate Landing Module

Because of the landing module, he slowed down as he fell. His boots appeared to be glowing from the soles. He landed safely behind the creature and hoped he aimed a good blow.

As Elijah was hopelessly hacking away at the monstrous demon, he noticed the human trying to get away and thought "Foolish human, he's gonna hurt himself even more if he doesn't sit still, perhaps I should go look for him". Elijah then sprinted away in hopes of finding where the human went and came upon a trapdoor close by, "As good as a place as any to hide I suppose". Elijah then started to scale down the ladder and noticed the human unconcious at the bottom of it "Of course, he goes and knocks himself out, does he think I'm a babysitter?".
Elijah tries to carefully straighten the human out so his wounds will heal.

OOC: Okedokey. As I understand it, PC is not a factor anymore? Cheers. =P Btw, Darkness, who the heck is your character? Rahvus? What happened to Oric?

IC: Airen proceeds cautiously from the desert into the carnage. He attempts to move from rotted building to rotted building in order to avoid being seen by man and undead alike. His robes billow around him as he holds his staff at guard, ready to defend himself. He glimpses several men around a dusty trapdoor. He moves toward the trap door and knocks eagerly on the ground, calling out quietly but urgently in the midst of the battle.

OOC: No, PC is not a factor now. There are no stats bluetongue.gif And Oric still exists, though he will go by a different name. I now have six characters, though only Rahvus has been officially 'released'. Their profiles shall exist once I find a plot for them to have in their time on Eartheia ;D

OOC: Yep. I was referring to Rahvus and Elijah.

And you have existing characters... That don't exist...at this moment. They're just taking a nap?
