Ziggy squinted. The sand has started to blow into his eyes. The ground shakes, but his horse steadies itself quickly. The blast from his gernade fades, and he watches his ally slice the reknosk's neck. The reknosk falls. "Good work," he shouts at Aether. Then Ziggy gazes over the battlefield and sees more reknosks. Flaming reknosks? This is getting a lot worse. he thinks. He looks over to Aether, but his ally has already began running toward the market. He glaces back toward the burning creatures approaching. "Yeah, I'm going to go help in the market," he mutters to himself. He follows Aether and catches up to him.

The other reknosk in the market is being swarmed by knights, some with sturdy ropes that were left behind by the Maldera. They manage to snare the fiend and hold it in place, when the archers come out from hiding and loose hundreds of fiery arrows toward it. The whistle of their arrows can be heard even above the chaos.
The third reknosk enters the market from the east, which is a surprise for many of the knights.
*******************************
"Hold the market!" calls Sir Flansburgh, who is still in the fight despite the injury he suffered earlier. "We can send these wretched abominations back to The Fallen before the others arrive!"
The ground shakes again and almost knocks Flansburgh off his feet. Even the reknosks seem to lose balance for a moment with this tremor.
A knight calls out to Flansburgh, "But we can't make a stand against the others that are coming! Why should we die to protect this town?"
Flansburgh points his sword threateningly toward the third reknosk while replying to the knight. "We can't allow his minions to..."
With that, a wild swing of the snared reknosk strikes Flansburgh from behind, throwing him twenty feet forward. He lands against the ruins of a building unconscious.
"Captain!" yell a few knights, seemingly in unison as they witness the attack. All the knights seem to fight the reknosks now with greater determination, knowing that it may be a lost cause, but a justified fight. Escape is no longer on their minds.
During all this, however, many of them look around with a depressed expression as they hear a rumbling sound coming from the north. The market does not provide a clear view in this direction, but they can only guess about what terrible thing is approaching now... The situation seems to keep getting worse with every minute that passes.

IC: Airen surveys the situation, and recognizes the hopelessness of their cause. "Elijah, we can't possibly make a stand here. It's too out in the open, these buildings aren't sturdy enough. This is a lost cause." Airen moves towards Elijah, "If you're going to stand here and waste your...un-life, that's fine by me. But I'm not sticking around to watch it." Airen starts moving away from the shack and away from the town towards the desert.
"You coming or not. We can bring that guy if he's so important."

The tremors continue to grow and become more frequent. They are strong even for the towering minions of The Fallen, so you know what the knights must be going through right now just to keep fighting. They keep going, though, and throughout the next minute which could be mistaken for an hour, a rumbling sound grows from the north. The end is coming for sure.
"We need to escape the town! We can't win against these things!"
"But we're surrounded! They take no prisoners!"
"What do they want here?"
"The fiery ones are almost here! We don't have a chance against them!"
"Something else approaches from the north!"
"Not reknosks! We would be able to see them above the buildings by now!"
"You're right! Look!!"
Through the town from the north comes a strong force of mounted paladins from Frionia. They tear through the market, stirring up even more dust and causing the two reknosks to roar even louder than before. The fiends are met by steel and many brilliant flashes of light, and within seconds they are overwhelmed. The two reknosks in the market are defeated, and both fall very heavily causing the ground to shake.
One of the Frionians speaks quickly above the chaos, "My name is Dinadan, ally of the Arbiters' Order and captain to these brave paladins. We have come to escort you to safety."
"We cannot leave!" says a brave knight of Aderon, "Maldenar will fall."
Dinadan jokingly replies, "But didn't it technically fall when you arrived? Where are the Maldera?"
"Who are the Maldera?"
Dinadan reassures the knight, "They abandoned the town before you arrived. Obviously they weren't troubled enough to protect their town against The Fallen! I wouldn't worry... They have a powerful ally."
"You?"
"The Arbiters may have watched over the Maldera, but we're not the ally to which I refer! Their ally is not one to be seen. Now let's stop talking, and leave before the other fiends arrive. They will be difficult to fight, even for our paladins. Besides, the unseen ally is probably waiting for us to leave!"
Dinadan looks back for a moment, and points toward some beautiful white horses that were brought beside the paladins. "We figured that you would need horses, so we brought these along. For so bravely fighting for Maldenar, you can each have one, so long as you return with us to Frionia. Your captain will be taken with us as well, as I feel that he might still survive under the care of our savants. Hurry now, we don't have much time!"

Neraphym: "Hail, knights of the Arbiter's Order."
Neraphym listens to the captain's speech.
Neraphym: "I should like to accompany you to Frionia. A horse won't be necessary for me, however."
Neraphym whistles, and Lohengrin drives down from the skies overhead. The adolescent blood dragon is still quite a scary sight to the guards, but Neraphym assures them of Lohengrin's passive demeanor. He mounts the dragon and takes off, hovering overhead. They wait for the market to be fully evacuated before leaving, too.

Riach: "Ah, help! Just in time!"
Riach asks for a horse. She has never ridden one before, and is quite nervous that she'll not be able to stay in its back.
