I am aware that so many people are or have been addicted to Online games, i propose a few questions...

1. Have you or anyone you know ever been/are addicted to an online game(s)

2. What do you think of the games being "addictive" (do you agree with me)

3. What is it about the games that your reckon makes them so addictive/why do people saw that they are?

Please i welcome all opinions and for people to go deeply into answering the questions.

As a sidenote: This is not a social experiment or poll of any sort, its just me being curious in other peoples opinions of this situation that enthrawls so many members of the online community.

OH GOD THE FONT IT BURNS

1. I've never really had this problem, and the only people I know who play online games... are online. Do they count?
2. You can be psychologically addicted to damn near anything.
3. No idea. It's probably because it's so easily accessible, and it's probably just escapism.

There, I hope I helped you with your homework.

Yes. I have and I know a few people.

It's not the games, it's you. (the player)

3. What is it about the games that your reckon makes them so addictive/why do people saw that they are?

I honestly have no idea. I've been addicted to the worst games imaginable.

I believe the game can have a lot to do with it actually, everyone has their own preferences they want when playing a video game and the more the game fulfills the little or major requirements the player is seeking in that particular video game will more then likely cause the player to play it a lot consistently. For example say someone's playing a open world sandbox game like gta, spiderman etc and they want to be able to have completely destructible environments then they are more likely to be "addicted" to one where they can destroy buildings over one where they can't even destroy a tree.

I think what makes the game addictive is choice, lots of things to do and it not being repetitive.

Counterpoint to anti-repetition argument: Korean MMOs.

1. Have you or anyone you know ever been/are addicted to an online game(s)

I have been addicted. From my freshman through junior years of high school I was pretty much a hopeless addict to shooters and MMOs.

2. What do you think of the games being "addictive" (do you agree with me)

I definitely agree that games can be addictive psychologically.

3. What is it about the games that your reckon makes them so addictive/why do people saw that they are?

Especially in the case of MMOs, the goal/level based system makes a player want to constantly reach new goals, even if they take hundreds or thousands of hours of gameplay to achieve. Continually added content keeps the player from never reaching the "end."
