Now that you've opened this, you are hereby demanded under penalty of RL Banning to find five random topics in five random forums on five random categories and reply with a legitimate response. It's -not- inconvenient. Really.

Guys, I swear. This forum is freaking depressing. I come home from school each day and log in, but it's only few people posting anything. Posting anything frequently, at least. Give me something to respond to! I'll do the same!

Keep topics -on topic-! You can bounce between subjects here! Don't limit yourself to those little conversations you have in LOTPW. Hell, I'd like to see that topic closed down so the rest of the board could get HALF the activity that single topic sees.

Come on. From now to the end of November, I'd like to see people attempt to post at LEAST ten (meaningful) posts per day in various forums. If this is done, I'll do something wild and crazy. Involving SeeD. IRL. On camera. I'll post it.

Okay guys, it's time to stand up and be counted.
I not only took my PRECIOUS TIME to write this thread, but I pinned it as well, which seemed to accomplish little more than it had already.

This topic was created a day before Halloween. It's now the 6th of November, and personally, I've seen little (To no) increase in the activity of posts. Am I to think I was correct when I said people can't post more?


To be perfectly honest, I wholeheartedly disagree with that. Here's my reasoning.
A single topic is not a message board, nor is a message board a single topic. That single thread DOES get so much attention, but at the same time, its popularity starves the rest of the board as people flock to it.

Really, I believe if all of the regular posters in that thread spent HALF the time/effort/energy on the rest of the board than they do in that topic, we'd have loads of visible activity that people would notice.

You go into that thread and you see what has happened in that thread only and it sucks you in, you forget about the rest of the board and that falls into neglect, which is what our current state is now. We're -starved- for activity. I'm -sick- of coming home from school every day and seeing a raw 5-10 new replies in certain threads, but seeing LOTPW flooded with replies. Priorities are a little mixed here.

Instead of new members coming to see a board that has nearly 5 new replies to scattered threads all over, they'd see a booming community outside a single thread.

That's FINE. Really. If you don't have time, that's no sweat. The purpose of this thread is to encourage people to post if they're able to. Most ARE! But they're so caught up in 'lurking moar', they never get down and do it!

Here's my hypothesis.
Members lurk the boards, scouting topics to see what to reply to, but DON'T reply as they wait for someone else to do it first. When that doesn't happen, threads get killed, and nobody does anything. Revivals happen, but revivals only happen for fun, and never revive a topic to serve the purpose for which it was intended.

PEOPLE. Nobody is going to laugh at you for replying first or posting at all. There's really not a lot you can do to do bad when you post or reply. It's not hard or difficult. Just put your say in and go on with it. Check back later to see what people have said.

It's really kind of disappointing that this thread was overlooked, and more than that, it appeared to be ignored. I was certain that if this was called to attention by other users, people would be more intent on listening.

How's this. If Cspace records the posts and we get over... (I'll start REALLY small.) 100 new replies by the end of November, I'll attempt to eat a spoonful of cinnamon. Look it up on Youtube videos.

I'm not really sure what you're saying, to be honest. What do you mean by 'new' replies? Surely even in our current decreased activity state we'd be getting way more than 100 posts in the better part of a month. It's not like you can measure whether replies were due to this topic or not.

Of course. Activity is my concern, truly. But you must admit, you don't see our community booming with the traffic it once had, correct? There's nothing like that.

As for the post goal, That's a thing for me (I always wanted to try the spoonful of cinnamon trick) and an incentive (Hopefully) for people to make use of other boards on this website other than the IB.

I didnt see this thread until yesterday.

Neither do I . I seem to be influenced by the day's trend. If there a lot of posts going on in one day, I'll post a lot. If there aren't many, then I won't either. I think if we all get the ball started, it will keep rolling.
