I only have experience with AOL dial-up, MSN dial-up , and Pacbell/ SBC/ SBC-Yahoo! DSL.

Pacbell was the best by far.
SBC and MSN were about the same.
AOL was crap.
SBC-Yahoo! sucks.

Interestingly, all our DSL has been on one account, passed from Pacbell to SBC, then SBC "upgraded" the service. That's what happens with mergers. Sucks, doens't it?
Those who will remember, will speak fondly of the warm morning breeze.

when it comes right down to it, small ISP's are the best. I get my internet through a local company (speed express) and it is awsome, super fast, and reliable. from what i've seen, big internet companys suck, basicly because they are so impersonal, and far away. local companys can send somone that day, or the next at the latest usualy if you're having a problem, and they cater to a small enough group, that it is easy for them to mannage and keep things going good. large ISP's cant do that.

I voted for AOL sucking the most.

I know Verizon is the best though.

Well we don't have most of them around here, or if we do they're not really the majority.

I like Optus Broadband, had that for quite a while. Now I'm on some smaller one, Ozmail or Ozemail or something, it's kinda unreliable.

Telstra Broadband was worse though, that would go down several hours per day, and anytime you asked them what was wrong they'd say it was at your end.

Shaw does all our cable/internet stuff around here, and they suck. They go down constantly without explanation, they get really slow every few hours (Took me around 3 minutes to load this page once, I left the compy after a full minute and it finally loaded) Also, they are terrible with web design.. I tried explaining that I was unable to upload to my webspace one time and the guy had no idea what I was talking about, and when I asked him if they supported frontpage 2000 extentions.. he basically sat quiet for a good 10 seconds, then I asked if he was still there, and he said he had to get a manager to answer me... so yeah, Pretty bad on this end.

If you don't mind how slooooooooooooooooow it is.

Basically Optus seems fairly reliable, either 56k or broadband.
