CODE

dim fastconnection as boolean
private sub user_wants_faster_connection
if fasconnection = "false" then
quote.read();
followdirections();
fastconnection = "true"
end if
end sub

Hehe, look what I found out (firefox only):
QUOTE
1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit
return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web
page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will
make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number
like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer.
Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to
"0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before
it acts on information it recieves.

Doesn't work for some people, I don't know why though.

Your welcome.

I'd just like to see some feedback first, and possibly confirmation on whether this is legal or not.

Legal? Yes.

What you are doing is allowing pipelining, which is basically loading more than one thing at a time, and changing the number of things allowed to be loaded at one time from the default 4 to much more.

For some bizzare reason, it doesn't work on some computers, and I haven't found anything obvious that is in common. You can always change it back, just change the two things to false and change the number to 4.

Supposedly some sites ban you for doing that...? Since you're using a lot more resources than normally... Just something I heard.

It wouldn't surprise me...

After all, a lot of download sites disable download accelerators for similar reasons.
