I just would like to hear some opinions from everyone on which system will have a bigger inpact on it's release, thank you.

Mmm, not too sure myself. PS3 is supposed to have some amazing graphics that'll outdo the Xbox 360's, though the new controller for Nintendo Rev is very unique and could make a big impact by itself.

Nintendo still makes childish games. It won't sell as much as any console that can play GTA, no matter how good its controller is.

Agreed with Bigbro. I still believe that the Revolution will have a larger impact (initially, at least). When the initial hype is over, the PS3 will reign.

Ok...so it's about a 50-50% that either one feature on these systems is better than the other which I've heard from many.

Whether the impact will be good or bad; the Revolution will get more publicity. Nintendo makes more unique games than any other company. Microsoft just keeps spitting out WWII games and Sony rides on one GTA til the next one comes out.

The controller has a HUGE impact on the system. If you don't have good control over games, then it will greatly affect whether or not people buy them. For instance, I hated tons of Gamecube games because the 'Z' button is in a horrible spot. Now honestly, the last thing I want to do is play a game using a DVD remote... "But it has a motion censor that will make games with swords awesome!" Yeah right! Motion sensing technology is far to underdeveloped to make the control seem acuurate. The last thing you want in a game is inaccurate controllers. When you die because your controller was off and have have to redo everything from the last save point, you'll know exactly what I mean. The new controller is only a great new source of inevitable frustration. Also, not every game out there has a sword in it.

Nintendo does nothing but put gimmicks out year after year. They are nothing without their fundamental games. Link, Mario, and Samus keep the system alive, but honestly, I'd much rather nintendo lose the consol wars so I can get the 1 or 2 nintendo games worth buying on my PS3.

As for the new nintendo they're gonna give a close damn to the graphic and make it cheaper than the Ps3. Why they dont care about graphic is prob cause only kids and noobs will buy it

Sony will have superior marketing, and already have the reputation needed to make it inevitable they will sell better, regardless of the system. They'll probably do a decent job of the launch, though.


Alpha, saying that you don't like a revolutionary idea because in the past it has been done badly... That path leads down the direction others are complaining about, identical games being pumped out time after time. Nintendo has been focusing too much on gimmicks recently, but there are also some very quality games out there. I personally found the Gamecube controller quite good, developers that knew what they were doing could get some excellent control settings out of it. It's true that it wasn't really intended for all genres however, and I have heard other people complain that it didn't fit their hands properly (I had no problem reaching any of the buttons, personally).


There is more to Nintendo than a handful of well-known series, but they tend to get all of the hype. They also tend to be exceptionally good games, so the hype is generally deserved and people don't find out about some of the other very worthwhile games on the systems. The same could be said of either Microsoft or Sony, they both have a handful of series for which they are most known.


As to why Nintendo is pulling away graphically, if you think about it then it's necessary to fulfill their vision of innovative gameplay. When you're playing around with a new concept, you're starting from scratch and have no guarantee that a game is going to sell. As such, you don't really want the game to cost millions and take 3 or 4 years to produce. It's quite different than saying 'Lets make another WW2 FPS/Racing game/Mario clone/etc.' where they can build upon game engines and concepts which have already been tried and tested, they know what sold. By focusing more on the gameplay aspects of the game over the graphics, they're far more able to take risks and get games released more quickly.


Nintendo themselves do a good job with games, even if I may often disagree with their business choices. They've been suffering due to a lack of third-party support, and unfortunately that can be a hard thing to get back. Basically I agree with several others, Nintendo will bring more to the videogame genre of entertainment with the Revo than the Ps3 produces, but Sony will win in sales. And if history is anything to go off, Microsoft and Sony are likely to start trying to mimic Nintendo anyway, removing that advantage.
