A Word About Death In DS2

Consider death to be permanent from now on. We're not using a "battle system" anymore, so everything should be somewhat more realistic. Resurrection takes suspense out of a story because anything can be undone.
As such, also consider it somewhat major. You probably wouldn't expect characters to be running around killing each other if there were no way to return.
Try to work out some ways to escape. You can get pretty creative with it, and perhaps can involve many supporting characters in the process. Perhaps a rescue would also make sense. Just don't fight for ages waiting for the other person to give up.
Also, one may want a character to fall to benefit one's own story. Remember that this is not a MMOG.

However, with that said, if someone who is very heroic falls in battle, there's a "small" chance that he or she can return from the Plane of Ages (the timeless realm). It would be a long and dangerous process that involves other characters going into the realm to search for the hero's presence, which may or may not be there. If something happens and one of your most important characters falls, you may consider doing this.
This is not exactly resurrection, and often one who returns from the Plane of Ages will suffer memory loss for months. The person would effectively be a little bit younger than the time of death, and would require time to catch up with reality.

So wait, if your character(s) die, you can't play the game anymore unless someone ressurects you?

Yeah. I was thinking about posting something about this. Another reason I can be glad about the transition to fully roleplayed. You might remember, Cspace, how I used to bug you about how there should be some detriment that occurred when your characters died. But you never made one >.<

You can have as many characters as you'd like, so you can do it for yourself if you want.
DS2 won't have stats or a battle system though, so if you really don't want a character to die, it shouldn't be much of a worry. You're only limited by logic and your own creativity, not numbers.

Gawww! No stats at all? I was hoping that we wouldn't -completely- destroy the old system. v.v That's no fun.

I like the plan of switching to full roleplaying, because no matter what we do to improve a battle system, it will never match up to the excitement of a video game, but a video game doesn't have as much roleplaying as we can have here.

What happens with the dead character's l00t?
Anything that would seem logical. Perhaps a friend will take the character's weapon and aim to avenge him or her. Maybe the character's enemy would take anything valuable. Maybe it will all be left on the ground and forgotten.
It would depend on the situation.
