Quoted from a GameSpy article about GW2: "The new game will have a much higher level cap - and the team is actually playing around with the idea of having no cap at all. "

This idea really intrigued me, because I really don't want GW turning into another WoW, so I think abolishing levels altogether would be fantastic. Hopefully they didn't actually mean that levels would remain, but the number increase would be infinite. Then I would cry.

I think no levels could be interesting, it could be like Oblivion where you do something and you get better at it like, running, swimming, jumping etc makes you have a higher athletic skill.

The way it is termed, "with the idea of having no cap at all.", makes it sound they are speaking of no max level but still having levels.

I expect it will be a system where skill point and HP/Energy wise, it wont matter really what level you are. There are sure to be a few benefits (otherwise the sidekick system is going to be rather silly) but I suspect to keep part of it's appeal, they won't want to turn the game into one of grinding.

I suspect the no level thing will be a lot like Phantasy Star Online. Once you get to level 100 or so, the diminishing returns for leveling up kicked in. Wasn't much of a difference between levels 180 and 190.

But still, people would be competing in levels to gain the look of experience over others.

Really, when there's no cap, levelling up becomes more of a chore than anything else.

A no lvl cap would be stupid as the game would never really settle down.
What do you mean you do not want GW2 to be like WoW? If you are talking bout max lvling, it is pretty simple to get to the max lvl of 70 in WoW, takes maybe 4mo-6mo (of reg playing but some have pulled it off in less then a week).
