It has come to my attention that some spammers have been sending an extreme number of private messages around. This is annoying members and could cause other problems, so I'm temporarily disabling the PM system for everyone except moderators while I figure out a decent way to stop it.

I'm very sorry about that, and will get PM's working again soon.

Does this mean members can still receive messages but not send them? Like if I need to notify someone of something.

One suggestion would be to require a minimum amount of posts to PM, or a minimum amount of time online, or even a minimum amount of time since you joined.

None of those are possible in the ACP, unless I guess if you right your own code to do it. Which would be a bit pointless.

Maybe you could make a new member group and just put actual members in it

None of those have to do with what member group you're in, foolish people.

You can set users to be automatically promoted when they reach a certain post count. grnwink.gif

You expect Cspace to waste time setting that up just because some people are spamming in PMs?

If he wants to, yes. After all, he did disable the PM system because of people spamming. grnwink.gif

Exactly. And it would take only like 5 minutes to set up a dummy member group.

Yeh, honestly I expect Cspace to do anything he needs to as long as it works. It's not a waste of time if it has a good outcome.
Overwhelmed as one would be, placed in my position.
