Felled Wights

Description: The "Felled Wights", who are sometimes just referred to as Wights, are the lost spirits of the dead. The chaos of battle can leave a felled soldier confused, whose life was ended so abruptly. Often they don't realize that they are dead, and are left to wander in a realm where time moves in strange ways (though eventually they leave the world when they realize what happened). The Wights of somewhat recent battles may appear as undead, though since they lack a master they eventually decay. This means that the oldest Wights appear as ghosts to the living. They are often feared, but usually just because of their unnatural appearance and due to the uneasiness of seeing the "living dead". In actuality, most Wights are not hostile unless you are seen as their previous enemy. When a recent battle takes place at an old battlefield, there are rumors that sometimes the Wights will join the battle if they feel so inclined.

Shades

Description: The shades are odd beings who are very often misunderstood, even by those who study the arcane. A shade's appearance is really just a shadow, often of a human-like figure who should be standing at the shade's feet, but is not actually there. Where there are natural shadows, a shade is completely invisible. They are frightening when unexpected, though usually pose absolutely no threat on their own. There are rumors that sometimes the shades can speak directly into a person's mind with cryptic messages. No one really knows why the shades are here, or what their alignment is, so they are surrounded by mystery.
