This is a simple guide to what makes your character unique. Consider this the bare minimum; through roleplaying you can expand on this to any extent you desire, with the exception of anything that affects your character's overall power or abilities.
First of all, keep in mind that you can have two characters. Your "primary", as well as your "secondary". Your secondary character technically has a "post count" of half of your actual post count. The characters can work together or be independent, it's up to you.
First, Most Important... Your Stats:
When a character begins his/her journey, he/she is automatically given 10 stat points regardless of post count. These can be distributed among various stats and will affect your character's abilities. They can be changed at a character's sanctuary and no post needs to be made. At no time can you add points to your total without an official reason, and therefore in order to improve one stat you will have to bring down another if points are not available.
This does not mean that you can't improve though. For every 50 posts in your official post count your total number of stat points increases by two.
The following are your character's stats (however alternate effects can potentially exist depending on class, race, abilities, and equipment):
Strength: Improves the damage that your character can inflict on a target. Every Strength point adds damage points to your normal physical attacks (not abilities unless specified). To calculate the damage, multiply your strength points by your character's class' damage number to calculate the damage a target takes from a normal physical attack. This can be augmented by a weapon or other equipment, as well as certain abilities.
Intelligence: Improves the effectiveness of your character's spells. Check your character's class information to see how this affects your abilities.
Vitality: Your character's vitality determines his/her base hit points, which determine the amount of damage he/she can handle. Check your character's race to see how this affects your character.
Constitution: The higher your character's Constitution is, the more resistent to sickness and other negative effects he/she will be. Certain items and abilities will have a stated value for vulnerability, and this will determine whether or not it can negatively affect a target based on his/her constitution. If the targeted character's Constitution is higher than the vulnerability value then it will not affect the character. This effect is the same for every character.
Affinity: A character's Affinity stat determines his/her affinity with the greater forces of the universe, such as those of mana and the interplanar realms. Some magical items, portals, and other things require a certain Affinity to use, and if this is the case the requirement will be mentioned. This effect is the same for every character.
Devotion Points: Determines the extent at which you gain your chosen deity's power. The effect is determined by your character's deity.
Your Character's Profile should be maintained in the Character Profiles forum. Start a thread to make your character official and include the information stated there which is required. Then maintain your post to manage your character.
And Of Course You Need Some Steel In Your Hand:
The above stats are important, but unless you're a pacifist you'll surely need some armor and weapons.
The following are your character's weapon slots:
- Primary Hand: Your weapon goes here.
- Off-Hand: Depending on your class, this is usually either used to hold a two-handed weapon, a shield, or another weapon. To hold two weapons requires an applicable class ability.
The following are your character's armor slots:
- Head: One slot
- Body: One slot
- Legs: One slot
- Arms: Two slots
- Fingers: Four slots
- Hands: One slot
- Feet: One slot
- Charm: Two slots
- Neck: One slot
- Shoulder: One slot (cannot equip to this slot if dual-wielding)
- Back: One slot
Lastly, items of all of these slots can potentially be augmented with certain augmentation items. Only one augmentation can be applied to a single piece of equipment at a given time, and augmenting it again will remove the previous augmentation. Once an augmentation item is used, it cannot be recovered. |
