The Fall of DarkStorm...? Will this waste away like the rest?

Activity has dropped to an all time low... of 0. That's right, 0. A few people have posted, but none reply. Is this it? Is this the end for Darkstorm? Cspace will obviously say no, but I seem to disagree.

With only 3 mods who are all in the upper class of moderation (Super, Admin) to control DS, thing are looking pretty glum. I'm not saying that I should get my DS moderation now (although that would help the activity of DS quite a fair bit biglaugh.gif ), I am simply saying that if you are a mod of DS, you should try and keep the activity up. The decrease in popularity is caused because you are not devoted enough to DS. I know you have plenty of other things to do but it isn't hard to keep things up DS.

I may look like as if I am flaming you for not being active in DS, but I'm not. I'm simply asking to keep the activity up or grab a few more people to help (thinking of a few people in particular Whatever_anim.gif ).

Reviving DStorm would be easy, it's not like the site itself is losing activity or traffic to fuel it. Just need interest to pick it up again, and that would be easy to re-establish.

There are three reasons that I have purposely stagnated DarkStorm (and yes, I have been meaning not to progress it with the exception of that one quest):

- DarkStorm: Age of Arcana, the actual game in development on which this is based, is concurrently in development. Planning and early development has been in the works and it has taken my focus from this a little bit. Not exactly because I don't have time, but because I need to check and double check the plot to make sure everything will add up before it hits a brick wall. Everything from here until the end is planned and in some places already written-up, at least the story-driven aspects of it... However, what happens must work with Age of Arcana as well, which is why I'm forced to check everything over to be sure that I don't eventually say "oops, that didn't really happen". grnwink.gif

This would be temporary, once AoA's development has passed a certain point in the very near future I will once again be capable of updating this world. Until then I don't want GMs going on their ways with random quests because they could accidentally or unknowingly change the atmosphere or progress of the game (as has happened before). This is a big reason I didn't give the new GMs their positions at the moment I said they'd get them, not that they're incapable but because the game is still technically under construction in my opinion (although the last bits of it).

- A bit of "busy work" to expand DarkStorm. Many layers of forums and sub-regions are going to have to be created along with supporting threads to drive the plot now that it is about to begin. Interest would be a lot more apparent when the world is more obviously tied together and more levels of locations are available. These will also allow for a greater range of quests, for there will soon be a much greater range of locations to accompany them.

- Confusion and confusion potential. Right now the biggest thing keeping people from getting into it is confusion, and I plan to take care of that soon by simplifying and updating the rules somewhat. As for confusion potential, with the bit of expansion planned as well as the new GMs about to receive their positions, some things need to be done before dumping so much on everyone.

**********************************

If our site was all about DarkStorm and we had to worry about repeat visitors and everything, then I would agree that we have a problem. But the truth of the matter is that we're not in that situation, and with simply getting a few new things going interest will be sparked again. It's the difference between "having to visit that site again" and clicking on a forum on a site you already visit. It shouldn't be difficult to bring the place back, and with the upcoming GMs it should be even easier. grnwink.gif

Just need to finish a few things first, a lot is in the plans which is not apparent at this moment.

I tried it, and got bored very quickly. It was more of a mental maths exercise than fun.
And now we have the quote of the day, from greenl2l: PLONGED!!!

Hence the reason for simplifying things. bluetongue.gif

Yeah It is hard to learn. Maybe if you posted what you wanted in the bio and stuff like that it would make it easy. TO much math for us and it kills the fun of it. Mainly the math part of us.

I would, but it is too much math stuff, and I dont really understand the main thing. It says you just start with whatever you want basically...it has no guidelines to start off newcomers...it shows character class but not what you can do once you've made it. CONFUSING!

I think you haven't looked at the main website... Go here and scroll down. You should find how to play Darkstorm there.

My character has been stuck in the Cintara Tavern for a month or so now. Does XZ still look here?

Ok got everything fixed about my character. Just took awhile...had to read that WHOLE PAGE!!! Lol...well, things are starting to look up now. As long as everyone tries to keep DS running, it should go pretty well.
