Everything seems to be coming together, except one thing...
What will become of SeeD as we know it?
It's certain that the "Runescape Faction" will be known as "SeeD" once again, but how can we allow for everyone with us today to continue to identify with it?
This is the thread to discuss it. The main concern is an obvious naming conflict, and we don't want to make the new stuff confusing. We should, however, have something to hold onto for everyone, not just current RS players. We can figure something out if we're creative.
I've thought of two places where we could go for this. These aren't absolute, and I'm sure other ways exist, but I'm just getting the discussion going.
- We could extend the Runescape Faction to provide a sort of honorary Veteran area, for those who identified with our guild as SeeD and may not play Runescape anymore. We could make it nostalgic in ways by giving all of our past Gardens a place there, and we could include various other aspects of what we were and what we are. It would be something for members to identify with, and could bring closure to this period as we move into the next. This would include at least one forum.
- This is probably an extension for the above idea, or an extension for something else, but we should probably implement titles of some sort.

Why is this site not called seed.com?
O.o
I do believe you've struck gold.
I think, if I wasn't in the honourable veteran area I'd get pissed, like I get pissed because they don't just talk about boring elitist mod things but actually have fun in there and even have their own IB.
So either we could do something else, or, make it a secret honourary veteran area, hide it in the infamous Farington forum or something.
And I still don't like the name 'Division'. Make it something more interesting. How about Cohort, or some other division of a Roman legion?
I have trademarked the symbol: '™'. You fail at display names.

The name would not be used a lot. The Defenders of Aderon would be called the Defenders of Aderon, while SeeD would be called SeeD, and the ECC would be called the ECC. They wouldn't have the "division" title attached to them in any way. From feedback it seems that most want a title to only be for describing our system to others, as opposed to actually being used daily. The name "division" defines itself and would make it easier to describe our system to others, which would be the only real purpose. When we discuss all of the divisions at once, we can call them "divisions" and new members won't have to look up the term.
We could leave the creativity up to the specific groups. Faction, fellowship, council, cohort, legion, phalanx, brotherhood, asylum, and other terms can be decided upon by each division as opposed to having something assigned to them.
It's still not written in stone, but it just seems that most want this right now.

Are you planning on keeping the gardens system within the RuneScape division?

I'm not sure if we should actually have them function with forums and everything, but they should still be there in at least name only (going all the way back). That way if members desire, they can identify with the Garden they used to be a part of.

I think it's more important that it's straight-forward than it sounding 'interesting'. As Cspace said it won't actually be used on a day-to-day basis, it's just an organisational thing. Anything a bit warlike or otherwise misleading is just going to cause the same confusion as the Faction system does currently. If you're in a leading role for a division you're quite welcome to call yourself a Legion or a Cohort or anything else, but to me at least division feels about right for categorizing them as a whole.
Whee, I got a bit distracted from the topic there, for a moment. If it's decided that special boards for veteran-but-retired SeeDs is going to be elitist, even something as simple as a listing of the departed somewhere as veterans would allow people to retain some SeeDness. I'm not necessarily against special boards, but I can see the argument for and against it.
