Matthew Reailly writes quite cool books, and his latest one is for free d/load (in 8 parts) at www.hovercarracer.com, but that one is completely different from any of his other books... If you're looking for comedy you should read Bored of the Rings, the 2 Barry Trotter books and The Soddit, hehe.

Redwall series, Brian Jacques (easy read, 2-3 days tops)
Belgariad and Mallorean, David Eddings (pretty easy read, 1-3 days per book, couple weeks per series)
Series of Unfortunate events, Lemony Snicket (Exetremely Easy read, no more than one day)
Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series (medium read, you sometimes need to reread to understand concepts, so 1-4 days per book in the series)
Time machine and War of the worlds by HG wells (depending what version, 1-5 days)
20,000 leauges under the sea (This is pretty long, I give 1-2 weeks, depending on interest of story and reading level)

Yeah hyper I agree with you. I like the mirrodin and kamigawa series in the Magic the Gathering sets. I also like to read the Forgotten Realms series, especially the ones written by R.A. Salvatore. Drizzt kicks tail, he is my favorite character in all the series.
