They do "warp" time, though it's just not measurable. If you'd like to test it with clocks accurate to a thousand decimal places, maybe you'd see something, but that's not very significant.

Erm, if this is so, then it could be more signifigant than you think. Think about it: If you're stuck in NYC traffic with all the cars around you, despite their sluggish pace, apparently "warping time" then in a few days you could warp a minute for all we know... You didn't read it, so it's understandable you didn't quite get that part hyper. At normal speeds the time difference is immeasurable, so if you're caught in a traffic jam and going really slow, it's even less. Therefore there is no way you could gain a minute in a few days, or even in a far far far larger amount of time.

Ya, real time travel is imposible.
but if I had a time machine, I would go back in time and kill Hitler and Nepolian.

what if, by committing the atrocities they did, the world was spared from an even more heinous crime (say, a nuclear war)? you can't just change one thing IF you could go into the past. just by entering the past you've changed it: the air you exhale might help to create a tornado in another region of the world. ever heard of the butterfly effect? it's the theory (which i know very little of) that can be summed up by saying that the way a butterfly flaps its wings in this part of the world can affect a tornado in another part of the world. basically, you can't predict what will happen in the future by changing something in the past. if you go back in time and kill hitler or napoleon, or a squirrel, or a dung beetle, you might come back to a nuclear holocaust in the present.

How do you know that this hasn't happened already? Maybe people in the future have gone back from their time to change our present time....Thus possibly creating a heinous crime of which you speak, or sparing us from one such.

The most amazing part of that is that I read it and understood almost all of it... (and didn't fall asleep in the process  bluetongue.gif )

You're good at explaining that kind of thing Cspace, good job. Oh and it's good to see Crescens get something wrong for once  grnwink.gif .

Is what a lot of people don't realise, if you went back in time, I think, that time would be exactly the same. Say, tomorrow I went back to today, at this precise time I believe I would be typing this. I doubt your conscious would be able to remember its future memories, because your conscious was made to move in a forward direction through time. You never know, there might be creatures that are the opposite, or another theory is that before the big bang the universe was reversed, your conscious perceiving time flowing from future to past. Time flowing anywhere is just an illusion, because as you should know, time is another dimension of space.

I am not sure that time always flows at the same speed, no matter how fast you are moving. Doesn't that saying go 'time flies when you are having fun?'
I have trademarked the symbol: '™'. You fail at display names.
