Gil 'Farming' isn't people getting others to send them gil, it's when one person makes multiple accounts to spam up the boards, then transfers the gil to their main account.

To my knowledge no mod/smod has been doing that, and I'd be likely to know if they had. As for why smods are still able to send gil, I assume it's that gil can be used as prizes for contests if they're organised, or something like that. That'd be my guess, anyway.

Is using those 'invisible posts' considered that too? Because I heard there were a couple of mods racking up bunches of gil with that, and general spamming too.
And now we have the quote of the day, from greenl2l: PLONGED!!!

One mod had been using an exploit to raise his gil (not saying who, it doesn't matter anymore), but not only did he inform people of it himself, but he then sent all his Gil to Cspace (including what he'd gained normally).

And a few people had been a bit spammy, but I don't really see that as gil 'farming', and I think you'd agree it has calmed down now anyway.

One would think so, yes, but for a while they were called all sorts of things, and maybe the use of "points" instead of "gil" reflects that. Also, the reason he gives for one being unable to send "points" is to prevent "gil farming", and also one is unable to send items, which are purchased with gil. If points are not gil, how will being unable to send points prevent gil farming?

Zoo is quite right, I think he said 'points' because the name of Gil was changing around on almost a daily basis at the time this topic was made.

Earning gil is cool but who would actually go to the trouble of creating multiple accounts and spamming up the forums to make gil...? crazy.gif

There's only a few things in the shop that actually have an affect. (Things that make your username italicized or glowing and such.) Well anyway, I hope the people that were gil farming were caught and given a serious warning or suspension. nonono2.gif

Just creating multiple accounts is against the rules, isn't it? The last time I checked it was... >.>

Gil farming is completely unacceptable. They take advantage of a good system where people have fun and then end up ruining it for everyone. Kinda like in school sometimes when one kids goofs off and gets in trouble, the entire class gets in trouble.

I bet people who gil farm are the same noobs that go around RuneScape saying things like: "OMG!!! Jagex blocks passwrdss! see!!! *************" nonono2.gif *cough*Goberetardsonrunescapeandstopbotheringus*cough*

Like me, perhaps? bluetongue.gif My spam had nothing to do with gil though, just ordinary SeeD corruption. biglaugh.gif

Can someone transfer all my gil to Rat? He won my Where's Wally competition. thumb.gif
