If you log into a school computer, always remember to log out. Uncheck "remember me" upon logging in to be sure, just in case the network goes down or something else promptly disconnects you. On some school systems, if you do not log off, you will remain logged in for the next person who happens to come to our site. They will be able to do whatever they want with your account. We may not be that known for it to be a spontaneous issue, but don't overlook the chance that someone who is bored will happen to cruise through a computer's history. I've seen it happen when I was in high school, so it's something to think about.

If you think it's necessary, go ahead and create a school alt. I did. Crescens and others did as well. Something like "Cspace At School" would be an applicable alt, and this is not looked down upon. Perhaps that extra bit of security would prove beneficial if you forget to log out or there happens to be a keylogger on the machine. This is especially applicable for moderators.

I've logged in to Curvedspace once at my school, so I always know to log out just in case my account is still logged in. It's happened before.

Uh, I'm not sure how the American school system is different, but we all have our own user accounts on the domain over here, and each account gets a new set of cookies, they're not shared between accounts...

Same with us.

But it might be different for different schools.

cspacezone.com is blocked at my school.

I wonder if there was once a seed from my area?

Lucky...

We have an integrated internet. All cookies, searches, and history are saved on the computer, then given to whichever person logs on that computer.

At my school we all have our own personal accounts. Although, I have never signed on to Curved Space from a school computer, it is nice to know.

Thanks for the info, Cspace. thumb.gif

By the way, that might also go for a computer at a library. grnwink.gif

Good point, jbg. This reminder is true of any public computer you use to browse the forums, not just school ones.

I don't tend to go on the forums during school, but even if I do it's on my laptop anyway, so this particular issue doesn't concern me too much. I'd advise others to be careful of it though, we have had a few problems like this recently and it can be very hard to work out what really happened.

Better safe than sorry. bluetongue.gif

All the computers in the school automatically delete cookies once you log off, so I can't be hax0red. Actually, the library circulation computer (I'm a library assistant) keeps me logged on, so I might wanna fix that...

I know I have had a problem with my brother going to sites that I have where I stayed logged in and causing all kinds of trouble. Ya know, telling everyone I hated them, making random threads filled with a bunch of swear words, etc.

So if you have problems with people who live with you, ya might wanna log off when you leave your computer.

Just some friendly advice.
