I was fine with the PATRIOT Act, but now they're just looney. What information could they possibly gain from this?

MySpace is stupid. The only people who bother to use it are teenage girls and the wierdos that stalk them. If you were a teenage girl that ended up getting raped and killed by some psycho, you would wish that the government could have tracked the guy that did this before he did it.

Even if you think that person is an idiot, they still don't deserve to be killed by some wierdo who stalked them. ShiftyEyes_anim.gif

Think of it as Darwin at work. The people who arent smart enough to NOT give out such information online, dont live to potentially have kids who would do the same.

How dare you put Darwinism in a modern situation?! eek4.gif eek7.gif eek4.gif

The government, and Americans in general, is paranoid. CNN had a report about a girl who smoked pot and became a whore because she joined an online community. loopy.gif And some idiots do give personal information, but if not on Myspace, then Tagworld, or Friendster, here maybe? If not on the internet, they'll find some other way. Whatever_anim.gif

Guys, I don't know if you knew this (I mean the obvious isn't THAT obvious, is it?), but MySpace was originally made as a dating site. If you're going there and not putting information, something's wrong. Why else do they have that weird age limit that seemingly never works?

there so many ways to be "stalked online" it's not even funny. myspace is the least of your worries because all they need is your ip.

And also...

Thank you for saying that bmatt.... you are the man... I was afraid to make fun of them and get in a fight, but you did it. So i present you with the mens award of manlyness IPB Image

All they're doing is running the info from myspace through a computer program that checks for people on the terrorist watch list and checks to see who their friends are if they are connected. Probably isn't going to find anyone because most terrorists are that dumb, but if it does catch someone, it will most likely catch the people who are friends with that person too. Not the best idea, but because it doesnt take anyone to actually do all this, there really isn't a reason for the CIA / OSS to not want to do it. It's just another net they're throwing out there.

Actually it was a site made so that bands could promote their music and shows. bluetongue.gif
