Honestly, I did get a little laugh out of the irony of his death. I always imagined it would be a lethal spider or snake bite that did him in, not a stingray barb. I still have a great deal of respect for him and his work in life.

Bingo. He had every right to take it out. The "Tribute" you posted was cruel. And it was just plain not needed. The fact that some of us looked up to the guy and admired him for the action he took for the many positive causes. People like that, who did so much to help the things that couldn't help themselves deserve admiration of some sort, and has no place being barraged by cold-hearted comments like the ones you made.

So I would believe that saying something isn't 'sentient' means that they don't really think for themselves, and rely on their instincts for the most part, as most of the animals Irwin dealed with did. Now how is that stupid? >.> Also, explain to me how animals who rely on instinct would understand that if they want people to know about them, they have to come out or something. And how they'd even know what people knowing about them might do, or what they means to them. They wouldn't really understand. It's like trying to explain to a fish (who's suddenly become sentient ) what the sky if like. You might say... "Well, it's like.. there's air everywhere." "Air? What's that?" "Err... Thank god someone sees the light. Did anyone ever think that maybe I actually loathe Steve Irwin? I wrote him a letter once in 4th grade class because I wanted to LEARN. He wrote back the whole class saying he was too "busy" and that he was glad we watched the show. Am I saying I am stuck on something that happened five years ago? No. But the fact is that letter opened my eyes to how some people on TV really are in real life.
