Yeah, on the board index, scroll down a little to the "SeeD HQ" category. No! Wait! Open up a new window first, you need to see the directions here.

Have the other window open and on the board index? I'll wait... Ok, I'll continue now.

Yeah, in the SeeD HQ, there's a forum called "Garden Discussion". Yeah, I know, I forgot it was there too! Then in that forum there are six and a half Gardens. I'll leave that up to interpretation.

Each Garden is inter-game and stuff. They are organized groups of SeeDs... like fraternities! Only without the hazing, except for Cactuar Island and maybe Centra.

The Gardens can also do stuff. We have an active headmaster in most Gardens, but the people aren't comin'. A few of the headmasters have also tried to get some competitions going, like contests or stuff in various games... But even though they tried hard, it all got ignored, ya know?

I say we do something... When we all get over the shock of realizing that the Gardens still exist, maybe we should discuss the things they could do? It shouldn't be stressful, after all they are based around the concept of gaming even if some want to declare wars on the forums grinning-smiley-048.gif

So.... Any replies, suggestions, or hate posts? I have my Spamlauncher 3000™ ready.

STOP ALPHA OR I WON'T HESITATE TO USE ALL CAPS AT YOU.

IM USING THE CAPS LOCK BUTTON BECAUSE I MEAN BUSINESS!!!!!!(EXTRA EXCLAMATION POINTS MAKE ME EVEN MORE SERIOUS. THIS IS THE INTERNET.)

I'd join a garden. I just can't find one that fully suits what I search for. I like staying in Winhill for the moment, though.

Sad, but true. bluetongue.gif

As always, "I'd contribute were I not busy!"

(working graveyard shift, doing college classes (with crappy bus service keeping me out of the house longer), pretending to sleep, and regularly being called away from my spare computer time to assist a recuperating knee surgery patient)

Hm... as to gardens... they don't seem to be working well as inter-game groups. There just isn't the — I dunno, I guess "unity" would be a good word — for that to work. Take a look at Trabia's member list, for instance. There are a few games for which we have one player each. We have two each for GunZ and Guild Wars. Meanwhile, the vast majority of us (or at least those who've posted what they play) play RuneScape.

I think gardens would work better as intra-game groups... like subdivisions of the larger factions. RS is definitely big enough. GW probably is. Dunno about the others.
Those who will remember, will speak fondly of the warm morning breeze.

I've been trying to get the guys in Balamb active. I know that I have done a real bang up job (Insert Sarcasm here.) But sadly a lot of my attempts to try and branch out from other games besides runescape have met with a brick wall. What I mean is that no one but Nate, and Iamthebest have replied. I have let the Bi-Weekly meetings up to the committee in runescape. Sadly Iamthebest was sick for a while and I dont want him to be blamed for any of it. I'll keep trying to push forward for the guys in Balamb. eek13.gif

Yeah, this is where we have a problem.

SeeD was a Runescape clan. It technically expanded into other games, and many factions were established. The thing is, for the interaction to emerge between factions and for the whole system to work, the factions need to recruit. They did recruit... But they pretty much only recruited from SeeD. So almost every faction is basically a percentage of our Runescape faction that plays a certain game, not a living faction of its own. While there may be a slight bit of interaction, the interaction isn't helping anything because it's not creating any networks that didn't previously exist.

Almost every member here plays or has played Runescape at some time. Of everyone who played Runescape, a decent number got into GW, a few got into WoW, a couple got into EQ2, and we have scattered activity in shooters and strategy games. That basically matches the presence any single faction generally has in our guild right now.

Gardens can work, but due to the already scattered activity everywhere other than Runescape, the members of Gardens don't really have anything in common outside Runescape... Therefore they feel like divisions of the Runescape faction. It's fine for the Gardens to do things in RS, but it's not really supposed to be their responsibility to promote expansion.

This is just how I see it... But factions should bring our presence to other games, and Gardens should reflect the general standing of the community and promote interaction. That's how it was originally set up. Members are required to join a Garden, Gardens are inter-game divisions of SeeD that can have contests and events, and this would promote interaction between factions. If there's interaction between factions, it will help all of the factions grow and succeed because they'll have a solid base from which to work. The factions are working as intended right now, except for the fact that the Runescape faction is the only acting draw into the guild. Think of the same effect with at least four factions bringing in activity instead of one.

The machine is only broken because of one faulty part. If we fix the recruiting issue, we should see the other problems go away, and Gardens as well as SeeD as a whole will succeed at the goals we set when we started with the whole faction idea.

We've built a very solid core for our guild. We can't really go anywhere else unless we expand. All of the activity issues, whether in relation to Gardens, factions, or even the whole community, can be solved with simple recruitment and events. If we focus on that, in Runescape as well as other factions, I really do think that our future will be bright. It's not hard to recruit, and if everyone did at least a little recruiting then we would be set. There isn't really much of a reason not to recruit if we want SeeD to be active in more games. Let's work together at it.

umm... I doubt I could recruit much. You don't want most of the people I know from halo 2 ShiftyEyes_anim.gif
And I don't know mant people on farcry evolutions yet (generally, a laid back crowd) but I guess I could try.

I probably couldn't recruit even if I tried. Most of my friends are or have been in SeeD already, and I don't want to start recruiting random people. Hard to say what that'd bring.

Enough whining about not having any friends. We've had some success with contests before, maybe we could have group contests or something? I don't know... like a garden collaboration story or photo editing thing? I'm just throwing a random idea out, go ahead and maul/improve it.

You didn't nuke Centra. You see, we took your nuclear missile and replaced it with a big firework. We have photo proof:

In other news...

I don't think Gardens will ever survive if they are used for games. Here is why:

People who play game A = Butter
People who play game B = Jam
Factions/Gardens = Bread

In the case of factions, all the butter is spread across only one piece of bread, and all the jam is spread across another piece of bread, so both butter and jam are concentrated. In the case of gardens, there is six pieces of bread, so the amount of butter per piece of bread is a lot thinner, and to confuse things even more, there is a tiny bit of jam on the bread as well. Therefore, I'd rather eat a faction.
