What bothered me was the people who were recording it on their cell phones. Honestly. What kind of a sick person would you be to want a video of a person being hanged on your cell phone? Idiots.

Well, you do have to look at it from their point of view. He was hanged over in their land, because of the crimes he committed against them. It was a bit of liberation on their part on how he was brought down, because his offenses were against them.

No, I don't see any good coming out of it. But I don't see any bad, either. It's like.. An evil person had Karma come into effect, and for the many many people he killed, he had it brought back to him. But what he did was done and over with. Guess it just goes to show that bad things will come around and bite you in the {expletive antidisestablishmentarianized by Cspace}.

But.. I don't know. I'm glad he got what was coming to him.. But I just can't get excited about what he got. Even though he deserved it.

If you want to bring Karma into it, than everyone who celebrated him dying will have people celebrating when they die, and everyone who wanted him dead will have people wanting them to die. Apart from being highly unlikely, it hardly makes things better in the world, doesn't it?

And no, he did not deserve it at all. No person, no matter what they did, should be killed intentionally by another human being, particularly being hanged on television and having people dancing around your dead body. I thought hanging was considered barbaric nowadays.

I can understand that, to an extent. Naturally, they're going have hard feelings towards him or what he did, but to -film the hanging on their cells-? Ehh, maybe it's just me. *Shrug*

1: Saddam will never again come back into power.

There, a positive aspect of this death.

Not necessarily. You are assuming that if he did so he would act exactly as before. What if he got back into power and did great things for Iraq? It would not have been likely, in my opinion, but you can't say it would have been impossible, now that he is dead.

Nar, Ace, y'see that's where my biggest problem is. I'm -all- for delivering justice to those who have it coming. I don't even have (much of) a problem with an execution. I just get kinda.. freaked out with the morbid publicity it gets.

I only recall a few times where I've heard someone say "Yay! He's dead!" and each of them, I didn't feel good about it. Even when it was a bad person.

Heh heh heh heh heh.

I pity the people who think this improves the situation in Iraq. They didn't need Saddam in order to defend themselves in a war.

The cell phone video of him being hanged is kind of odd. It seems to be in a dark room, but on BBC and CNN the gallows are outside in the light. In the cell phone video, after he drops, the camera goes dark for several seconds, and then all the sudden his face pops up and then fades out again. I doubt it's a fake video, but it just seemed sort of odd compared to the news agencies' videos.

Fox News showed great restraint today! They didn't feel it was appropriate to show Saddam's neck breaking and hanging lifeless even though they had footage of it! :O What a rarity, indeed.

I do agree with capital punishment, but I have to agree there's a problem with hanging... A person can possibly hang there for hours before they actually die. (At least so I've heard.)

I never said it was a good thing to kill hundreds of people, but making that number one hundred and one doesn't make it any better. The whole 'eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth' system of judgement is morally flawed. As for Saddam 'doing most of this', I must remind you that he didn't go out shooting people wildly, he killed them 'indirectly'. That means he told someone else to kill them, or he some way caused their death. But you see, that person would not be dead if it was not for all his supporters and allies. Both Saddam and many other people caused the things that he did, both groups would not have done as much damage without each other. So, why not just go out hanging everyone who helped him? Why not go and kill his doctor who kept him from getting sick, or his secretaries who wrote the death lists? If it wasn't for them those people would not have died either.

This is the sort of topic where people will have opinions, Ruckus, which is what I have. I have not put down any individuals in this topic, I have only said that a group of vengeful, violent people are bloody idiots. If you believe the term 'bloody' is a swear word unacceptable for this forum when used rarely, which indeed I do, then go ahead and threaten me.

You misinterpret yet again, my studious young imp.

Opinions should be shared, indeed. This is general discussion. In discussions, one might debate, one might share opinions; yes. It is good that you have individual opinions. Yes. While you may not have put down anyone, you seem to have come off as a little brash here and there, but yes, no put downs. I believe in all forms of swearing, my dear boy, coming from a guy who creates his own and swears like a sailor. I also have British relations, so yes, I consider "bloody" as a slang-like cuss word.

What am I going to do? Nothing, lad. I won't do anything, I can't do anything. What I am doing is giving you piece of mind and informing you that you need to take a step back and look at the picture as a whole. Don't just look at your view, look at all views, discern which is yours, consider why you feel that way, and leave it at that. A strong skill in debating and voicing your opinion is to humbly respect other's opinions. This means to -not- segregate other views and isolate them, but rather to voice your views and then STOP. You do not need to say "Oh, by the way, I hate these people who think that." because that is what leads to flaming.

Threatening? No. Never. Warning? Oh yes.

QUOTE

"Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering."

--Yoda

Such is the way of people and mankind. If we do not understand something, we may feel uncomfortable and upset about it. After enough aggression and heat between two factors in a similar arms race, then you get hate. Hatred is a strong opposing feeling towards another factor or being that singles them out specifically, not just their group, but that person. And eventually, that hate leads to one side doing something horribly wrong and brash, and causing the other factor much suffering. Such is the way of the Dark-Side, and such is the way of humanity.
