No one really knew what the Cafeteria was for.

It was not a less serious version of General Discussion, nor was it an Insanity Board that increments one's post count. Perhaps some remember those times when I moved groups of threads from the Cafeteria because of those misconceptions. The Cafeteria was intended for milestone threads and a few other things specifically mentioned in the Cafeteria's guidelines.
Having two versions of General Discussion is a bit odd, and so is having a version of the Insanity Board that increments one's post count. The Cafeteria applied to both of those due to how it was used. When it comes to that forum's
actual purpose, it's becoming rather unnecessary. All it's doing is dividing activity in General Discussion by about two.
I'm not sure why members would really want to hold onto the Cafeteria. It was being used as a combination of GD and the IB... Why not just use those two forums, which as a result of the Cafeteria being archived, would be more active?
Everything that could have been posted in the Cafeteria can still be posted elsewhere in the same category. Instead of there being confusing or un-noticed guidelines for an unusual forum, you just need to determine if your thread is spam or not. If it's spam, it goes to the Insanity Board. If it's not, it goes to General Discussion for quicker un-targeted views, or a specialized forum for targeted views. Lose the "serious" mentality for General Discussion and just think about whether or not your thread has a purpose of some sort, even if for entertainment. As long as it's not spam, and as long as it has a purpose or goal of some sort, it can be posted there. That includes most of what was posted in the Cafeteria.
