My reasons:

1. If you are using Firefox, they show the whole legnth before compressing and shooting you into a blank space below the posts and stuff.

2. On some browsers they dont compress at all, and on some they dont show up.

3. The things people put in those marquees are almost never read.

4. It makes the pages MUCH slower to load, which can get very aggrevating.

If you have any reasons they SHOULd be kept, tell me, I want to know.

Yeah I know, I use FF and you are like reading the thread and ARGH! You end up in this empty area and the thread is all the way up the top!

I just click home I know it's a bit annoying with the space but really you could suggest a different compression way to FF (for example ie allows marquee but doesn't have the blank space at the bottom -- I've looked at cspacezone with IE).

Also, it really isn't that bad, I guess it depends how bad the marquee is. I mean I don't think most are bad, I can understand if someone was on dialup or what not, but I don't think it's that bad. Like I said, it just depends on how big the sig is, and how much is in the marquee.

PS: I disagree with totally disallowing, I think people should have the right to choose, but again that's just my oppinion.

Erm, kimo, for a while your sig was 2 pages high till it compresses. I find taht annoying, but if you wish to cramp all that stuff noone reads into there, its your choice.

I have firefox and experience these minor inconviniences, too, but they are just that. There's no real need to have them disallowed, just put up with it.

Hmm... Well there are some things which simply cannot be shown in sigs without vertical marquees, and in my experience they often are read. It means that people can no longer be 'sigged', unless they're really quick two or three line quotes. Larger pictures are often marqueed if they can't be resized without making them unreadable.

Vertical Marquees can be annoying at times, but I think if they were totally removed then we'd be seeing a lot more people with larger sigs, because they simply can't fit in everything they want to show. Maybe if for some of the more excessively long marquees they might be persuaded to shorten them a little, hehe.
