i dont have much against him, except for one thing:
NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND
I'm sorry, but its really really stupid.
here is what is required by NCLB:
-if someone is really slow at something, the whole class has to slow down the pace of learning to meet that one persons need. Because of this, our school is getting worried about sending too many people a grade ahead in subjects like math and programming because if too many people jump ahead the rest are considred 'left behind', which is really bad for me cuz im already a grade ahead in math and am going to be a grade ahead in programming. ALSO: we are several grades behind other countries learningwhise. lets take russia for example. they learn multiplication 3 years before most u.s. schools do. they can read very well by the end of first grade. writing is even earlier. you see little 3rd gardes struggling to read here, while in russia they are reading about 30 wpm, and russian words are like twice or thrice as long as english.

-progress is required.
every school in the u.s. has to have a score increase in the assesments or else they get put on PROBATION. that REALLY sucks cuz my school is in the 98th frikken percentile!!! how do we improve? it means that the average person has to get at least about a 94% (quote from math teacher). how the HELL do we do that??? its been forcing us to have reviews nonstop for like the last 2 weeks!
yes, this week we are taking the assesments

other than that, i see nothing wrong with him

Two people in the clan know that I can't give my full opinion for certain reasons and we will keep it at two, but I will let some of you know.

- Every heard of doing the wrong things for the right reason? Bush has the best of intentions for going into Iraq, to free them from an abusive leader. I also agree with bringing the country to order, but I don't agree with imposing democracy on them. Just because we think it is the best government doesn't mean it is. Just because it works in the USA, doesn't mean it will work there. I won't go any farther on that subject for reasons stated above.

- I don't agree with this Social Security plans. Although it sounds all flowery and good, just look at drawbacks and how it will eventually hurt future generations. There are other ways to cut back on the budget without ruining the futures of many people and raising the retirement age.

- I'm strongly against his charisma, or lack there of. I would like to have a President that can speak to the people, one that knows his speeches and doesn't make mistakes. Every President needs to know the definition of sovereignty. He apparently doesn't.

- I'm also against how he pays government employees. For the work they put into this country, they don't get anything out. This leads to another problem - giving tax cut to the wealthy and not the poor. Sure, the less fortunate get tax cuts, but they aren't substantial if you look at the brackets. Stop cutting the taxes of big wigs, they have the money to pay, they just do the same as the poor people in the country do.

I need to go and I would post more detail, but I need to fix dinner and get a little work done for another meeting tomorrow.

Well I agree with both of you. I dont think it is fair if that is really what is happening with the 'No Child Left Behind' thing. In my school we havent even discussed it, or heard about it really. It doesnt affect my school at all (were hooligans, every single one). I also agree with baseball about going to war with the right intentions, but for the wrong reasons. Bush and his father went into a war that no one can possibly win. 'The war against drugs' and the 'war against terrorism' are two wars that no one can possibly win against. I think it is good to try, but lets face it. There will always be drugs out there, and there will always be terrorists...as long as we strengthen our borders and support our fellow countries, we will do just fine. I ALSO HATE GAS PRICES!!!

Bush can't control the majority of gas prices, he doesn't have hardly anything to do with it. He also can't control the economy right off the bat...

I personally don't have a problem with gas prices. I realize that it is a luxury to us and I'm willing to pay for it. One way to make a large impact on gas prices would be to have a double daylight savings time which would save tons of energy by having the daylight be an hour later than the normal savings. That is the purpose for it and I wouldn't have a problem with it being moved back another hour also. It would reduce accidents at what we currently call the late evening because it would be lighter longer for those travelling home from work.

I'm a Republican and I support Bush, but he has made a lot of stupid mistakes.

Saddam acted like he had weapons of mass destruction and brutally killed his people. That said, I think the war with Iraq had a reason. Bush's "I-don't-care-about-most-of-the-other-countries-think" attitude he used in this is very, very bad.

This attitude is a large part of why the United States is not highly viewed anymore. But Americans haven't been really high thought of anyway.

The worst thing is the No Child Left Behind. It is basically the idea that if you considerate on one person while letting the others suffer, the one will do better. To bad that doesn't work. Whatever_anim.gif

Still, he still cares about the world, which is more than what some other people do.
