Lately, there have been a lot of cases with hackings of people and key loggers. A lot of them have opened emails from people impersonating Jagex Staff.

In every email from what looks like Jagex, check for things that show the email is a scam email such as:
  • Emails saying they need your password in any way.
  • Emails saying they need your Recovery Questions.
  • Attatchments.
  • Test features such as 3-D Betas, new servers, etc.
  • Check for errors in conventions such as spelling, grammer, puncuation, etc. Even an improperly used word could signal a fake email.
  • Account renewals.
They are all fakes!
In fact, by this point in time (June 3rd, 2005 as of last update), it is almost certain that you should not receive ANY emails from JaGex at all!

If anyone has anything to add, please post it here.

Well, just in case everybody doesn't know by now, JAGeX will never send you emails. If the email has anything to do with Runescape, JAGeX, or anything of the sort, it should be deleted, and not read, as well as labelled as spam (to block the user from emailing again).

ALWAYS check for spelling errors, punctuation, and anything else. All it takes is a non-capitalized word for it to be fake. Jagex will never make mistakes like those... even though they won't email you anymore grnwink.gif

I got an email from staff@jagex.com that I needed to renew my account. Put this on the list too.
I have trademarked the symbol: '™'. You fail at display names.

Things which you should look at:

SKoA - http://skoa.cspacezone.com/ , if you have any Age of Empires games.

The DS Garden Festival Minigame - Link , whether you play DStorm or not.

The Most Mysterious SSSS - Link For people who don't care about...things.

And now we have the quote of the day, from greenl2l: PLONGED!!!
