The Meaning of Life?

Hehe, this topic should be interesting.
Well, really, I didn't make this topic just for that. I just thought I'd add a new perspective to it. Now, what is something humans do really well? Creating, destroying, or keeping things the way they are? Well, one of the great things humans have created are the pyramids. And what has happened to them? Looted, plundered, one explorer even blew a huge gash in the side of one. What about keeping things the way they are? Global Warming, urbanisation etc. Nope, we fail in that respect too. Which leaves just one other option. And we do do that very well.

42 is the meaning of life!
No, no it isn't. The next person to say that will be thrown into a pit of ravenous ladybirds, and their families, loved ones and friends will be imprisioned by legions of fetid geriatrics, doomed to rub ointment into their joints forever more. Their riches and possessions shall be disposed in Latvian letterboxes at random, and their pets shall be sent to Margaret's Home for Wantonly Discriminative Austrian Sausage-Consuming Chordates, which, in my opinion, is the most unethically hideous building in all of Larry's Cosmos™ - "The 21st most comical cosmos in all of Bogfordshire."
SO DON'T!
In other news, I bet you haven't even read the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Weeeelllll...
As an individual, your purpose is to spread your genes as much as possible.
As a species, beat all other animals for control over the earth and/or use the other animals for our own wants.
Or you can set your own life goals, if that's your thing.

It varies from person to person. Nobody can truly measure the value of a life. It's impossible. You'd have to throw your life away spending all your time trying to calculate what the person did to make their existence meaningful.
It also varies in the options you gave.
Some people are wired to create-
Some people are wired to destroy-
Some people are wired to mediate-
The question itself has so many outlets of an answer, as there's not one you can just pick. Some people may live to fulfill just one answer to life, while others may live to fulfill many. Beit destroy, create, or mediate between them.
--------------
42 was the calculated answer by Deep Thought. However, you cannot understand that answer until you know what the question is.

Overwhelmed as one would be, placed in my position.
Such a heavy burden now to be "The One".
Born to bear and read to all the details of our ending
To write it down for all the world to see.
