Global Warming

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the data is showing that the ozone hole is shrinking. CO2 might have an indirect effect, but the ozone hole was more caused by chemicals such as a variety of aerosols. Fortunately it's much easier to stop using those, than it is to stop using oil.

besides, China, in the near future (as in iwthin a few decades) will be producing more pollution than the US. while they are beginning to place pollution control in the old smokestacks, its not enough, plus their cars are also a large producer of the pollution.
So?

While it doesn't matter exactly who is polluting, more and more are using fossil fuels for energy. It's significant when the high-population countries start burning more fuel, because that just means that many more people are contributing to the problem. It's not an individual's fault, but new technology is desperately needed... And ethanol is not a longterm solution, by any means.

As an aside (and in response to replies further up), does Gore's personal usage of natural gas really matter? Discrediting him over that won't make the problem go away. I don't know what all of us think, but in reality I keep hearing "but Gore uses fossil fuels" as an attempt to dismiss global warming. This is rather ignorant if you ask me.

Aye, Mr. Cspace is correct. It's a logical fallacy called ad hominid or something. My opponent does drugs, therefore, anything he says on the subject of pokémon must automatically be incorrect. While it may be slightly hypocritical for Al Gore to use natural gas, it does not make his argument any less valid. Global Warming is so strongly supported by sciences around the world, its amazing to see how little respect many Americans have for science.

As many scientists say that Global Warming isn't happening the truth is it is happening. Already taken more proactive approach in my daily life to try and cut my carbon emissions and electricity usage. By doing simple things like setting my computer to go into an S3 Standby mode I am using less electricity. Added in with the fact that I am also using AMD's CnQ Technology that saves more energy.
Another thing that is done, rather than throw out aluminum cans, I recycle them. Added in with replacing most of the incandescent bulbs with fluorescent bulbs. So all in all the small things really do add up in the long run and actually is a win/win situation for both sides. I save the earth by doing my part and get to save some money on my electric bill. Whose complaining, lol?

The point I was trying to make by saying that is: Al Gore doesn't really give a toss about Global Warming, he just wants to be remembered as the fellow who saved the world. Yes, if one does not practice what one preaches, to use a cliché, of course it makes one's claims less valid. If one who does not believe in what one tells others to do enough to do so themselves then people don't believe in what they are being told either. Not only that, he does it on a scale far greater than anyone else in his own country, which in turn would be far greater than anyone else not in his own country. It is like all those Catholic priests convicted of molesting choir boys and such. It is not so much that they are kiddie fiddlers, but that they are Catholic priests. No one believes that they are these holy men of God who are more morally and spiritually wise nowadays, do they?

Mars's atmosphere is 95% greenhouse gasses to begin with. The reason its not very warm is because it has so little atmosphere in terms of quantity. I think its 0.007 x what earth has. If mars had the same thick atmosphere we have, it would be like 20 times as hot.
