I know man it sucks that we have to be 21 to get a drink but you guys can just all hope in a car and go to Amsterdam.

Res: You can and will refrain from saying stuff like that here.

Yeah, they just drive across the English Channel at low tide to Amsterdam. Takes about 10 minutes since Europe is such a tiny place.

No, silly, England and Amsterdam are two cities in Canada or Mexico or on the Moon or something which are only a short drive away from each other.

Well, I can't speak for the latter, but the former is more that you have to drive to get most anywhere in a lot of places, nobody "has time" to eat properly, or sleep properly, or do anything but work, the "restaurants" give you way too much food which you feel obligated to eat (even though of course you don't have to), and the fast food places keep coming up with bigger and bigger burgers (reminds me of the burger king ad where the men are singing about not eating girly food...).

Although I can't say I understand why our drinking age is higher than the age we can smoke, join the military, vote, etc., but that's beside the point.

In Japan, fathers have no time to do anything but work then sleep, not even on Saturdays, and they have people called Sumo Wrestlers who are payed to get, and stay, fat.

I have to admit your drinking laws don't make too much sense, if drinking isn't allowed under the age of 21 even if it's with parental consent and supervision. People are going to break the law anyway, but they'll do it in a less safe environment. icon_sweatdrop.gif

21 is an odd number too... i think the drinking age in the US used to be lower... why raise it?

The legal age for most things used to be 21. That went for cigarettes, voting, etc. along with drinking. When the voting age was lowered to 18 because the draft age was 18, the age of legal adulthood and most privileges were lowered as well. The drinking age was one of the few institutions left untouched.

Yes, really. I wouldn't make that statement if it were untrue.

not many people live to be 200 or older... you would have to look in the bible to find only a few listed... and they are dead.
