So, I am going to see it this coming weekend with friends.

Why am I posting this?

Because the day I go into a movie theater is the day that Armageddon is coming, so I felt I should give everyone a fair warning.

I am very proud of you Rylkan. Good things take time, but great things happen all at once. You should also consider yourself lucky, because I was planning on seeing it in MAX, and to kidnap you on the way there.

Heath Ledger's performance of the Joker was awesome. The movie is really worth waiting in line for.

Well I think that Two Face in Batman Forever and Two Face in The Dark Knight are two completely different entities. Both were really good for the films they were in. Tommy Lee Jones was excellent for the campy style of Batman Forever, while Eckhart (and the special effects) fit perfectly into the darker style and tone of The Dark Knight. Both depictions are good, they just fit into their own films (a crossover would be disastrous! (This was directed at Attila, I probably should have quoted it but oh well)).

The Dark Knight was definitely the best Batman film yet, Ledger is thoroughly deserving of an Oscar (When I first heard of the talk of awarding him, I was skeptical and thought it would have been just because he died, but he is truly deserving of at the very least a nomination).

The only problem is... how will Ledger's Joker be topped? I can't think of another Batman villain to be in the next film that hasn't already been done (as the Nolans said they didn't want to re-use any characters already in Batman films (although since we have Joker and Two Face, I suppose they changed their minds, haha)). I'm thinking that the Mad Hatter would be a good choice, but I think that anyone who would play him would play him in a style that would be too similar to The Joker. I have a hard time thinking of a Batman villain who (when adapted into the more 'realistic' and 'gritty' style of these newer films that wouldn't be similar to the Joker (ie. a deranged madman who dresses in funny clothes)). Although he was in Batman and Robin, I think Bane would be a good choice, if his depiction was more faithful to the original comics, where he is a super-strong super-genius, rather than the mindless zombie he was in Batman and Robin.

Who do you think will be the villain(s) in the next Batman film?

Now that the whole city has turned against him, he'll truly be an outlaw vigilante now. So now they'll probably bring in someone who can be portrayed as a new 'hero' to rid them of Batman. Freeze could come back as a genius trying to help Gotham, when he's really plotting to.. well, freeze it. I'd like to see him back. Throw Penguin in with him and maybe Catwoman as the antagonist. Interesting setup.

Another good one would be to have Ra's al Ghul come back in from the comics. Him and Bane made a great pair in the series, and it would make a great storyline looking into Bane's past and also forcing Batman to choose someone who can succeed him. Now would be as good a time as any, since the acting by Ledger outshines any I've seen in awhile.

Last would have to be the Riddler. In a way I think this is the best character to bring in, due to the way he could twist Gotham around and make them completely forget how much they relied on Batman before. I have no idea who could be best to play this role though.. it would take a lot of skill to pull that off.

And, yes, this movie rocks.

He probably slept through the whole thing. And because it rocked so much, it registered as an "okay" for him.
Rylkan, don't you dare let those plans fall apart. Hitchhike to the theatres alone if you have to. You will see this movie.

I also was thinking The Mad Hatter, and then came to the same conclusion.

Harley Quinn could be possible as well, but again, would quite likely be too similar to The Joker. And they go best together anyway.

There are plenty left that haven't been used and are still quite realistic though:

-Firefly would be awesome.
-The Ventriloquist, even though it's sorta lame.
-Doctor Moon, but perhaps too similar to Scarecrow.
-Doctor Death, see above.
-Anarky, because it would be hilarious. >_>;
-Cluemaster, though perhaps a little too similar to Riddler.
-Black Mask, personally I think he's the most realistic and could make the most interesting story.
-Hugo Strange, see above.

While I loved the movie, I was not impressed at all by Christian Bale... that over-dramatic voice... what the? Also, I have nothing against people with speech impediments (or whatever Bale has) but since when did Batman have one? I found him to be somewhat ridiculous.

Ledger was amazing, as all have stated. And I was extremely impressed by the character of Lt. Gordon. I seriously forgot he was acting at times.

Now, is it just me or did they never cover what happened to the Joker??? Batman just leaves him hanging, no pun intended.

So yeah. I just got home and had to make a thread. I saw the 12:01 showing.

I won't ruin everything, I'll just say it's absolutely incredible and everyone must see it. Especially if you love twists and turns in the plot. It's just amazing.

We can discuss it after more people have seen it I suppose. bluetongue.gif

Awesome movie! I saw the 12:10 show. Although little kids shouldn't go in my opinion, it can be a little disturbing at some parts.
